I've only heard them mentioned...don't know any details. I think I would like to participate too.

Renee, I miss the swaps too. But the truth of the matter is that there has been some unpleasantness on the forum lately, and after talking to a few of the regular swappers, we didn't think the timing was opportune for a swap. We've hesitated to start one for that reason.

Now that we are getting into the holiday season and everyone is busy, the consensus is that it might be best to wait until the New Year. Hopefully everything will have settled down around here again!

Thanks for explaining, Ann. I promise I wasn't hinting! :) Just curious if there was a permanent halt or a temprary haitus.

It had crossed my mind, too. But I agree that after the holidays are over would be a better time.

I was wondering about them, too. I'm relieved not to be having one right now, as the budget is pretty tight. (When is it not tight? lol) A swap in the middle of the winter doldrums would be just the thing to brighten and warm up the cold days.

Waiting until sometime in the New Year will also give any of our new members or lurkers a chance to start participating on the forum so that they will be able to join in the fun.

There are very few rules, but one that has been developed over the years is the "Rule of Participation". In order to participate a member must be an "active" participant of the Cooking Forum for at least three months prior to the start of the swap. Active meaning posting on a regular basis so that the rest of us get to know them well.

There is an Introduction Thread that is current and I would suggest new members or lurkers might want to consider posting to this thread.

Whoa...glad I missed the tension!! Hope everyone can kiss and make up!!

I would love to get back into the swaps again in the new year!! Truth is I've had so much on my plate the last 2 swaps I had to step aside but I enjoyed reading the posts over on the swap side.

All swaps are fun but I think I most enjoyed the swaps were we put a little local flavor into them. I've enjoyed a lot of things from all over the world that way.
I often would use the swap foods when I cook for family and friends and the conversation would start about how did you find this or that-I'd answer that I have friends in tasty places LOL!!

Well whatever the masses decide I would love to participate in the next swap in 2010!!

Cheers!

I've been thinking about the swap too, but didn't want to ask. Thanks for being brave! :) I'll be looking forward to the swap whenever it comes along. Ann, if you need any help, please let me know.
