Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Posted by dlynn (My Page) on

Annie mentioned on another post that she doesn't need rules because she's so old she'd just forget them. This got me to wondering, just who is our oldest cook on the CF (I think I know who it is and it isn't Annie). Also, who is our youngest cook that regularly posts or lurks (Makayla and Maggie do not count!)?

I'm probably somewhere in the middle so I'll start. I'm 49. How old (or young) are the rest of you?

RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Older than Shelly, younger than LindaC. hehehe

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

HA! I am the youngest to respond...... SO FAR! But not by much, so I am totally not the oldest or youngest on the CF!

Alexa

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm younger than Chase.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I am recently turned 53

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I bet Bobby is amongst our youngest...Bobby?

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm the youngest here. hee hee!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm the same age as Jessica, Diana, Weed, Daryl Hannah and Antonio Banderas.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Damn!! I shoulda kept my mouth shut!!!!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I know Bobby beats me by a mile but I'll throw out a number to be compared to... 40.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I think Bobby is 24.

LindaC, Never would have guessed it; you are doing something right!!!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Well so far I’m older than everyone except Lindac

Claudia

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

No secret. I'm 57.

I think that Bobby must be the youngest. Where is he?

Ann

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I was assuming Bobby would be our "baby".

Linda, you are the same age as my mom but you seem soooo much younger. I just had a long discussion with Lee (LSR) last week about my mom and how old she seems to act and think of herself as being.

Gina, I'm a 1960 kid too, so I'm in your group. I'll be 50 next year. My DH was born in 1960 also.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Like Claudia, I'm older than everyone except Linda who's ahead of me by a few years, despite that I have a 25 year old granddaughter. ;-0

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Not the oldest, but not the youngest either.
:)

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Boo, I've met you--you are close to being the youngest, in looks anyway!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Well, I am not either one. I am 55.

Linda

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Im 44yrs old! 1965 Baby!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm 45 but my heart is still pounding at the very mention of Antonio Banderas....thanks alot Gina. :-) He was sooooo cool in Desperado.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm 40. I'm betting Bobby too...

LindaC, is the secret scotch??? LOL..I need to get started then...

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm 54, not the youngest by far.

Mom always told me that we're only young once, but we can be immature forever, so maybe I'm the most immature? (grin)

Annie

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Annie, I will challenge you for the most immature! The race would be pretty close either way I'm sure.

Just turned 50 chronologically and am burning every dam$ one of those AARP cards I continually get in the mail in a ceremonial pageant in the wood burner out back.

Duane

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Russell Crowe and I share the same birthday-to the year.
Don't make me do math to figure out how old we are.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm 78 going on 57.

jude

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I am 21, but look 17.
Sherry

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

OK, we have our winners -- Jude is the oldest and Sherry is the youngest!!

Sherry, you really do look 17. I bet everyone at the Food and Wine festival thought you and Ashley were sisters, and Annie was your mom ;)

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Heck Sherry, I didn't know we were supposed to tell how old we look!

jude

 o
even younger

Oh Sherry, you aren't the youngest. I just read over on the Whipping Cream discussion where Mustang said she's just barely over 18. I guess that means she beats you for youngest!

Jude, how old do you look, and more importantly, how old do you feel?

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

LOLOLOL Woodie! Me too!

David

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Cute ....... Woodie and David ! I'm not talking about it ! It's not how old you are it's how you feel......or that's the line any way!!

All this talk of being born in the 60's.......somehow I missed the late 60's and early 70's....

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I was born the year AFTER Antonio Banderas....

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm right there with Woodie and Chase...and a few other's I see.

I really don't think a day over 30 though... and you really don't want to know my new obsession...

Nancy

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

dlynn, I'm told even by my primary care physician that I look nowhere near my age (It's the red dye #3 LOL). Generally I feel at least 10 years younger than I am although lately I've been having some leg problems. In my mind, I'm still 57.

Glad this question wasn't asked on the Harvest Forum..I don't know how old Bejay looks but she's about 10 years my senior and can work circles around me. Still....I wonder if she's been on a 2 week trip to Europe driving around through little villages, staying in bed and breakfasts for a week and then a Rhine River Cruise. I'll take that over working in the garden any day. I'll get some pictures posted some day. Right now they are on my computer, thanks to a daughter who ran out of time to help me and I don't know what to do with them. Now THAT makes me feel old.

jude

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

dlynn, I think Mustangs was kidding about the "barely over 18" as she also refers to herself as "Grammy". :-) So Sherry's still the baby :-)
I'm not, I'm 48, but still enjoying my childhood :-D

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Well I'm 26... But thanks Cathy, I'll take 24 any day instead :o)

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Well, then, Sherry and Bobby being the youngest, I'd say the future of the CF is in very good hands. :)

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Bobby, In my defense, you were 24 when I met you; in my mind, you haven't aged.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Thanks... I still smile when I think about that day. Btw, does anyone know what ever happened to Andrea?

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Okay, I lied. I am a little over 21. Well, maybe more than a little. My oldest granddaughter is 19.
But I am 21 in my mind. (And probably my clothing size, LOL).

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Oh no, Colleen. I think Mustang really is just a little over 18. I remember that picture she posted just a few months ago of her in that cute little cheerleader outfit ;) She looked really young in that picture and I'm certain it was a recent one. LOL

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Diane, Thanks for watching my back!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

LOL Sherry! Act your age, not your shoe size, ha!

Do tell Nancy, do tell!!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Gina, are you referring to age or my new obsession? This group might be able to handle the age but I'm not sure about the obsession....

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Does it start with an A. and end with an L. -? LOL!!!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I wear a size 6 shoe....does that mean anything?
And I am pissed, because I would have never told my real age if I knew Jude was going to ace me out!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Oh Linda, don't get pi**ed. We all knew you were lying about your age. I have it on good authority that you are not a day over 56.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Gina, that shoe size thing is funny...except that I DO have monstrous feet...size 10!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I agree, Nancy, we want to know about the obsession, it's far more interesting than age!

I'd lie about my age but then I'd forget what I said it was and it would just be too complicated so I always tell the truth. (grin)

Annie

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

My grandmother always lied about her age....she added 8 years. She said she would much rather have people say "Do you know how old Tet is!? She sure doesn't look it!" than have them say "poor Tet...she looks so old for 60!"

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm a "middle" baby too. 46 this year!
Some days I feel 12 and other I feel 82. Just d'pends. Not DEPENDS!!

I definitely wanna be there for the showdown between Duane and Annie. We could sell tickets and pay all our airfare!! LOL

Duane, Annie's pretty far ahead of you by posting the Redneck Wedding Story. You're gonna need to do some catching up!

Waiting.......................

Deanna

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm 61 and so that information should answer any question about the age of a few of the other girls here that we know are the same age as me :)

I like Linda's grandma's idea - so from now on I'm gonna be 69 and everybody can say wow doesn't that Woodie girl look great!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Sorry about that, LindaC. I've been 57 for years now, and that's usually what I say when age is mentioned. I figure people won't believe you anyhow.

jude

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

....... well I'm really not the youngest but I'll bet I'm the most immature! hahahha!!!

Bobby I spoke to Andi a few times after we all met up but we've lost touch. She works a lot and was so busy there for a while. We were supposed to get together and go out on their boat for cocktails etc., but we never did get around to it.

I hope she is doing well - very nice lady! And her husband was nice too huh?

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Gina.....maybe...

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Thanks for the vote of "confidence", Deanna, LOL.

I will remind you, however, that I was the one that stayed sober and drive Elery The Dancing Fool home and poured him onto the sofa, after he declared his undying devotion about a dozen times. (grin)

And I left before the police got there, so that's got to count for something.

Duane, I've always just tossed those AARP cards but I just found out that I can get in to see the WhiteCaps on a senior discount after age 50!

Well, Shaun, after that fairy costume, maybe. LOL

C'mon, Nancy.....

Annie

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Fly that freak flag Nancy - you know you want to! I'll join you...

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Aww, I missed this contest, Bobby beat me by 2 years..I turned 28 last February.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

OK Gina, let me get some stuff together and I'll post a new thread.... need youTube help.

Nancy

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm 26 but I don't post much so I don't know if that counts.

I've been lurking here every day since I was 18 though! Maybe I can win the longest-lurker award.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Based on those who posted above and actually told their real age with a number, the average age is 48.42.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I have no idea how old Banderas is, but I don't care - he's the right age for me!

I'm exactly 10 years younger than our former President Bill Clinton, but a checkout lady at Walmart told me I looked 36. I'll be happy to believe she really meant it, too!

Sally

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Okay, I was born after the end of WW II but before the Korean War started. Harry Truman was president and I still have a souvenir necklace that says I Like Ike.

I have sweaters that are older than some of you! Jude is my hero and makes me realize how many good years I have ahead.

I introduce my 42 year old son as my younger brother. (not really).

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm above average!

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Chi83, you definitely count, even though you are so far below average ;) Hope you will post more often, we need some young perspective now and then. What brought you to start hanging out here at just 18?

Many, many years ago (when I was still in my 20's), a co-worker was turning 42. My other co-worker (who was also in her 20's) and I decided that we would play a joke on the 42 year old for her birthday and we put up big signs at our department in the hospital that said "Happy 50th b-day". Well, everyone believed us, not the 42 year old birthday girl. One person even told her "You really don't look that old --- you don't look a day over 45!!!" She was not happy with that "compliment".

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Thank you for the kind words.

I started at the Beauty and Fashion forum at the recommendation of my mother, and quickly migrated here.

I've been interested in cooking, and especially baking, for as long as I can remember. I was cooking every day for my family from about age 12, by choice, and because my parents only knew how to work the can opener and the microwave. ;) I still continue to cook constantly for myself and friends and family.

My real passion is baking. I am commissioned frequently to make cakes for people, and I have ambitions of owning my own bakery soon.

I was a lurker because during the first few years, I didn't actually have a kitchen since I was living in the dorm. But I've always considered myself resourceful and I have many fond memories of putting together Christmas baskets for loved ones of elaborate chocolate dipped spoons, pretzels, caramels and other things in the hallway of my dorm using nothing but a microwave and a hot pot.

I suppose tenacity pays off, and now I have my own fully functioning kitchen, a Whole Foods, Penzey's and Trader Joe's within 5 miles and, most importantly, a lot of dreams.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Mustangs just posted about having the family over for Thanksgiving for the past ten years so unless she started unusually young I'm betting she's somewhat more than 18 :-)

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I'm strangely excited to not be the youngest one here! I just turned 30, so I've got a few years on Bobby. I'm so used to being the baby of any group this is kind of cool! Thanks Bobby! :P

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

I’m above average my DD is the average age here so I guess most of you could just call me mom! I was born during the Korean War and remember the I like Ike necklace.

Claudia

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Chi, it sounds like you have some very lucky parents and friends!

Sally

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Dedtired, your remark about introducing your son as your younger brother brought back memories..Years ago, we were with friends and the subject of age came up...Someone remarked that I sure didn't look my age so I jokingly told my son to stop calling me Mom in public.

jude

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Chi you totally remind me of myself when I was in college. I'd cook on a backpacking stove if I had to, just to get some good eats. I gradually worked my way up to shared kitchens, then kitchenettes, and now a whole kitchen and dining room and pantry and freezer of my own. It's small though, so I still have my dreams. An I'm three blocks from the farm market and five blocks from the local health food store, and a skip and a hop from the greengrocer and local farms.

 o
RE: Who's our oldest cook? Who's our youngest?

Well I'm younger than some but older that a lot!! LOL
Turned 60 in August. Everyone tells me I don't look my age. I don't act it either!!!!!!!!!
Linda
