Oh my!!....he better be sweet....that's one biiiig dog!

He is about 90 pounds, much smaller than Titus at 140+ and Darla who was probably 135 at least by the time she filled out. But he is very strong. He likes to chew - a lot! I keep him well supplied with sturdy dog chews.

Bless you, Barnmom. I'd be climbing a tree if I saw that dog walking down the street. I know looks can be deceiving, and many huge dogs are big babies, so I will take your word for it. His head almost looks like it was photoshopped on. Hope he has a good home soon.

Aw, I'd love him, big dogs don't bother me at all. He does have a sweet face and Amanda always wanted a Mastiff, but got Sadie, the monstrous St. Bernard/lab mix, LOL.

I do hope he finds a wonderful home forever, he looks like such a good boy.

Looks like a real sweetie. I use to volunteer at the local SPCA, walking and training dogs. The pit bulls were some of the most people oriented dogs there. All dogs went through an assessment test to make sure they were not violent. Does he drool a lot? Dogs with those kind of jowls usually do. Hope he finds a good home. Give him a hug for me.

Oh, he is a drooler. I am always looking down to find a new slime spot, usually encrusted with whatever he ate most recently. He is good about letting me clean his face if I can get to the towel before he gets too close! I just do a lot of laundry.

I don't mind big dogs either - other people's big dogs, LOL. I don't want to pick up their big poops, clean their big sticky drools, vacuum the floor everyday and tend to my bruises from them trying to get into my lap! If I had acreage and a dog doody pickup service, well...

Yes, he looks very sweet and kind of frowny, that he's disappointed, or worried, lol. He's a cutie pie. I wish I could rent a sweet, trained, puppy for a few hours a day-or a nice, old, settled, grateful, non-shedder.

Oh Bruno is a VERY handsome pup! I am another that doesn't mind a big dog. Prefer them actually.

I hope his new home will be his "forever" home and he'll be happy as can be!

He's just upset because he couldn't polish off ALL my shoes and my wardrobe.

Bruno is on his way to his new home. The rescue lady came to pick him up from me. I sent him off with his vast collection of chew toys and some treats. I hope everything works out. The new owner has two small dogs so we have fingers crossed that they will all get along.

As soon as I know anything new I'll post!

It didn't work out with the small dogs. Bruno was playful and great but the one of the other dogs was jealous and nippy. He is back here with me.

He's a sweet dog. He's very obedient with me now that he's been here a little while. He needs socializing with other dogs which I can't really do.

barnmom, I know you work with a rescue service but I wonder if they contacted the Mastiff Club of America rescue service. They might be helpful in finding a forever home for Bruno.

Wow, that sounds like minute-dating! Not fair to Bruno. They should have kept him for a couple of days at least.

I agree, it wasn't a fair assessment. On top of it the guy was a bit of a windbag with both the rescue woman and me about all of his training expertise and devotion to dogs. The rescue woman pointed out to me that he couldn't control his own little dog. He made some comments to me that Bruno seemed to have prey drive toward small dogs. It sounded like a way to excuse himself from taking Bruno. The rescue woman - who has assessed countless dogs - said he just wanted to play and the other dog was jealous and nippy.

Bruno is still very much a puppy. He needs correction and training. I keep him occupied with a bunch of chew toys. I bought a can of Easy Cheese to squirt inside his Kong and some other toys with holes. He LOVES that. He has been chewing on my back gate. :( But the rest of my shoes are safe thus far.

I bought a Gentle Leader collar for him. It makes him somewhat manageable on a walk around the block though he still fights it and wants to rub it off. One circle of the block and we're both exhausted. But he needs the practice.

He has come out of his shell and is more affectionate with me since his first few days. Must be the Easy Cheese.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed today. A couple is coming to meet Bruno today and see if they like him. The woman I talked to seemed disappointed that he isn't full Mastiff. She read his Pet Finder listing which lists him as Mastiff mix but no mention of the Pitbull part which is pretty obvious when you look at him, I think.

Poor doggies. It's like an audition or like I mentioned, a date. People are trying to find the most beautiful, well-behaved animal. Well, dogs need trust, training and love to bring out their best qualities!

Poor baby!...such a face....but I have to admit, big dogs scare me a bit. I can love up your baby, but don't leave me alone with him. I am frightened of an animal I can't physically control if I have to. Horses scare the bejabbers out of me!!

They came and went. Bruno was perfectly behaved and very sweet. They walked him around the block and he was very good. He sat and took treats gently and was a bit of a clown. They want a Shepherd. Go figure. I think they don't want a Pit mix but didn't want to say so.

He's adorabull. It's such a shame that humans have changed the reputation of bully type dogs who were known as the Nanny dogs in the early 1900's to now being painted as dangerous. They're such people loving dogs that it is truly sad. That wrinkle forehead and serious look is more about interest/attention. Mastiffs are great dogs as well as are pits. I sure hope that Bruno finds the right home for him.

Btw, my 80# Jessie is a raw fed dog and his poop is small and it disintegrates by itself within a few days. All the meal in kibble keeps kibble fed dogs poop big, smelly and needing to be picked up. Jessie is mostly Pit so doesn't have the drooling problem. He just has the 80# lap dog syndrome.

I inquired about Bruno's breed and the woman who brought him to me says he is not a Pit mix. Bullmastiff for sure but not Pit.

He's a love. Follows me around. Lays close to wherever I am. He still has some puppy ways that need redirection but he is very well behaved inside with me.

I would so like to have in his forever home before Thanksgiving. I have to leave town and I don't think he will be happy in boarding.

I think the trick is to get them into the homes for a trial adoption. I took in Smokey as a foster, to make sure he had no behavior issues or health problems before adopting him. He is dog reactive, terrified of bikes and joggers, barks at everything that moves after dark, and needs eye surgery. . . and I fell hopelessly in love with him and I'm adopting him anyway. I think it's kind of like online dating. You pass over people for flaws that you actually could live with, because you aren't thinking about all the things you'd gain in return.

His conformation looks more Old English Bulldog (which is not a Pit Bull) to my amateur eye...
