Glazed bakeware from China?

| I bought a couple of plain white ceramic glazed serving/baking dishes from HomeGoods for Thanksgiving, and now I am having second thoughts about using them because they are from China. Do you think they are safe to be in contact with food?
I don't use plastics from China because I fear toxins leeching (or is it leaching?) from the plastic, but I figured that glazed products would not release anything. When I mentioned it to a friend she was adamant that she would never eat from ANY product from China.
I do have political reservations about buying Chinese products, but that is a topic for another day (When I don't need bakeware for Thanksgiving ;-D). In the meantime, do you think this stuff is safe to use?

As long as the glaze is intact....it's as safe as glass. And even if the glaze is not intact....I don't believe there would ba any problems. Where you get into trouble with lead is in low fired pottery who's surface is not fully glazed and can leach lead from the glazes into the food. But anything that is meant to go into the oven and is fired at a high temperature won't be a problem. Linda C |

| I agree, LindaC, I think it's probably safe to use. We won't discuss the politics of my refusal to buy things made in China right now, LOL. Happy thanksgiving, Nicole, and enjoy your new bakeware! Annie |

| Personally, I would not give it a second thought when using china from China (sorry LOL) or any other serving piece for a single meal, or even a few holiday meals during the year. I would probably think twice if I was going to use it daily....... Alexa |

| Ladies, thanks for your feedback! I have taken the stickers off, washed the dishes and put them away. They are officially mine. Nicole |
