Called out a pervert last night

DH and I went to the movies (Midnight in Paris, a new -very good- Woody Allen film) last night, and when we came out decided to get an icecream cone at the gelato shop a block away from the cinema. As we were almost up to the gelato counter where a young woman in a short, flared skirt and another woman were already being served, a young man pushed in front of me and barged up to the counter.

My first thought was, "How rude!" as I watched him. Then I noticed he was holding his iPhone oddly, in his left hand, flat with the screen facing up and backlit, and sticking out to the side and slightly backwards, as if he didn't want anyone to notice he was carrying it. As I watched him the phone swept underneath the skirt of the young woman. Hmm, I thought. Then he pretended to look at the gelato and turned away from the counter to leave, and as he turned he sort of leaned back awkwardly to sweep the phone under the young woman's skirt again. Holy sh!t! He was taking photos of her panties!!!

Immediately I got in his face and said very loudly, "DO YOU MIND????" "What?" he blustered. Continuing in loud tone I said, "You were taking pictures of that girl's underwear!" He denied it, and started pressing buttons on the phone to "prove" there were no such photos on it. I have no doubt there are apps out there to hide this very thing so I wasn't believing it. "I'm not arguing with you, I _saw_ you wave that phone under her skirt twice!" He beat a hasty retreat. Oddly, through all this the girl in question didn't react at all.

After we got our cones and were walking away, as we passed a restaurant a few doors up a man outside stopped us and said, "You weren't wrong, I've seen him do the same thing. I saw him go in here and now I'm waiting for him to come out." Hopefully the perv got another flea in his ear and a thump or two to emphasise the point.

Gee there are some sickos out there :-(

good for you for calling him out....but unless he is arrested it will do no good. What's worse is he may be posting them,,,,or selling them.

West_Gardner, I agree about some forecasters being better than others. All three of our local weathermen were raised around this part of the country, 2 of them actually in the town where the TV stations are. Prior to this year, it seems that their forecasts were more accurate. Makes me wonder if the really strange weather so many are experiencing is causing weather in other parts of the country to be harder to predict by influencing the speed of Highs and Lows, etc. Rain in our part of the country, especially after the last 3 years of extreme drought, will be welcomed whether forecasted or not! That is a surprise I will always accept. Oh, the other oddity I forgot to mention in my first post was after watching the deer jump the fences, I got to looking to see where the cows were. Didn't see them, so I figured they were in the back pasture. Then I saw movement over by the barn and there they were. All of them had gotten in the lot and somehow shut the gate. They were looking at me as if to say "Well, what are you looking at? Aren't you going to do something?" They could have opened the gate as they have done so before, so I don't know why they didn't this morning. All but a couple of them had to check out my housecoat on their way out the gate, and of course Adam, our Beefalo bull, had to get his head and neck scratched. Can't tell our animals are spoiled can you!

Well, I removed them since the pond is only 900 gallons and there were close to 4000 eggs. I'm sure many didn't get removed. The next night, same thing, but less eggs. Many of these are still in the pond and I'm sure I'll have at least 1000 tadpoles. But they are back out there tonight so this appears to be an ongoing thing and I don't know if my neighbors appreciate the noise. I like it for the most part, but it is L O U D! When I'm on the phone people ask me where I am, ... "the Amazon?" I definitely won't mind having toads, but I don't want the amount that when I walk I have to be afraid of stepping on them constantly, or mowing them down. I'll be grateful for their bug eating reputation.

Well, Carol, while I was sitting here wondering why anyone would leave their purse in the garage....(not only do I want my purse handy, in case I need to run out the front door, but I'm thinking of my lipsticks and eyeliner pencils melting in the heat of the garage inside their little bag in my purse)...I happened to think of something dumb that I do. My DD leaves for work through the laundry room/garage door, locking that door behind her and closing the garage by remote as she pulls out her car. My DH leaves out the front door and used to lock it behind him. But when the weather is nice, (about 9 months of the year) I leave the front door standing open. And the screen/storm door is not locked. My purse sits on the sideboard in full view of the unlocked, open door. And I go get in the shower. So...........I will be rethinking my own bad habits too. One thing I do that's a good habit....I had DH buy a strong clip for my car & house keys. So they are on a ring with the clip. When I get out of my car, I clip the keys onto a big ring of my purse strap. That way, the keys are out when I walk to my car........never have to search for them and they are easy to grab to use the panic button on my car. Red

Sounds like some kid whose school cannot afford to teach them about computers, or he would have known where the money is. So sorry this happened to you. What a mess. As Annie said, it is the violation of your personal space as much or even more than the loss of stuff. Of course, if the stuff has personal meaning and is irreplaceable, that is a horrible feeling, too. I had a ring stolen from my house that had been my great aunt's, and I feel sick about it to this day. Good idea to put the bars up, distasteful as they are. We've had a lot of house burglaries around here,including one on my street. Ick.

Cool! Good for you. Perhaps the girl was flattered.

I saw some evil transactions (not you Jessy) at a strip mall parking lot yesterday. I circled behind the cars and made sure my car was headed out to the highway; I took a picture of the license plates circled around to the front to get the perps standing between the two cars. When they noticed me they started screaming and yelling but I was in a car and they weren't so they couldn't catch me. I didn't have a plan for the pictures but they didn't know that.

Wow. Vigilante justice. Colleen, I'm glad you called him out but I'm also glad your husband was with you. I hope that guy gets what's coming to him.

Cathy, do you plan to give the license numbers to the police? I hope the guys didn't get your license number as well.

Wow, Colleen, you're a brave person. So are you, Cathy. Those men could have had guns, and not been afraid to use them.

I can't believe the girl wasn't bothered by this. Maybe it just didn't sink in to her what had actually happened, but I think I'd be wanting to call the police on him.

I do have a theory, maybe the girl was embarrassed. Could be. Sometimes, it takes a bit to get into a thick head that you're a part of the problem. I never dressed like the girls of today, but I also haven't dressed as um, demurely as I should have when younger. Possibly embarrassed, but maybe not. Or confused that it was she he was photographing.

Colleen, having been a victim of a pervert I would like to offer my most sincere "THANKS" & give you a big hug.

Think of these people as terrorists (actually, they are terrorists!)...if you see something suspicious...report it to authorities immediately...even if it's your best friend or your neighbor.
