I don't like it either. I clicked on the gear icon, went to Settings and somewhere in there I found a a box to click for Basic version, which switches you back to the old Yahoo email. Honestly, why can;t they leave good enough alone?

dedtired, I tried that 'basic' version option but it didn't return to the old format for me -- it changed to something different, but not for the better! I wonder if the browser makes a difference. I'm using Firefox 24.0.

I have never switched to the new format because I was afraid of it. I have a gmail account that I hate because it does not have folders for me to put things away into, and so I almost never use it.

Thanks for the warning, and I will make sure not to update to the new format. I do not like "conversations" formats, which is what I think gmail uses, but it is very awkward and cumbersome for me. I end up just deleting most of the gmail that I get because I cannot file it away.

Party Music, look to your left side and you should have your folders there. You may have to scroll down a bit to see them.

Lars, according to what I've read, they have changed the yahoo mail interface to look and work like gmail! They didn't give me the option -- they just changed the format on me.

pkramer, I see the Folders link and when I click it the name of each of my folders is shown. But that's all I can get... no matter what I do I cannot see what's in any of those folders. :(

I'm hearing from some friends... one cannot even get to the messages in her inbox, so I'm better off than she is. :p

Party, you are right, the Basic version is not exactly the same as the old version.

I have been finding a fair number of legitimate emails in the Spam folder since the switch, so be sure to check before you delete the spam.

Partymusic, sorry, I don't have experience with Yahoo, but I want to address Lars' complaint about Gmail.

Lars, in Gmail you need to "label" any messages you want to save, and then Gmail will make folders for you. The icon for "label" is in the row at the top, to the left of "more." You can label the message multiple times (for example, by names of correspondents or by subject ... whatever you wish; you can also nest subtopics under main topics). The message will remain in your inbox until you decide to "archive" it (in the row at the top, it is the first icon on the left, a down-arrow). When it's archived, it will disappear from your inbox, but you will see a list of labels (i.e., email correspondents or topics) on the left, and you can click and view it again. So the list of labels/correspondents is really a list of "folders."

Again a reminder to check your Spam folder before deleting it! This morning I found my bank statement in the Spam folder. I think Yahoo is forcing us over to the new version by making the Basic version a pain in the neck.

Sue, thanks for the info about gmail. When I get time, I will try to "label" the messages I want to keep, and there are several that I consider important. I found the filing system of Yahoo and Hotmail to be much easier for me to use.

I don't use email as much as I used to, and I stopped using Facebook back in August, although I was unsuccessful at trying to delete my account there, which is another reason I will not use it again.
