Rhana update

Well hi all. I have a little wonderful news to share. For those following her heroic journey, I can finally report more wonderful news. She has had the trach tube taken out. The g tube is gone. And today was her first day of 7th grade. we are all so incredibly proud of her spunk and determination. She goes to school two days a week, four hours a day. She is so thrilled to be back with her friends. My daughter is even looking forward to filling out all the "first day paperwork" that always comes home the first day! The school district and staff have just been so caring and helpful. It probably doesn't hurt that her scribe (the wonderful lady taking notes in class for Rhana) is best friends with the mother of the "hunk". Thanks for keeping up with our journey. We couldn't have come this far without everyone's prayers. Mary

HOORAY!!!! School!!!! I know a lot of kids aren't agreeing right now, but I'll bet Rhana is over the moon.

I've followed her journey and sent her some emails telling her how strong she is. I guess this just proves it.

Linda, thank you for your thoughts and prayers! Lars, thank you for helping me feel more comfortable about posting updates here. And yes he does deserve a normal life. Mitchdesj thank you. Many thanks Lee. Jude thank you for the hugs. I have good news! Boss had his MRI on Monday. Compared to the MRI taken in October the tumor has decreased by 1/3 and the nodules that were bright in October are almost invisible now! He still has a long way to go, but is definitely heading in the right direction! Tuesday he had his first chemo treatment of 2013. It doesn't seem to have any adverse effect on him and he wanted to go to Kroger later in the evening. He takes after Mimi and his mother! Lol Today was his first day back to pre-school We are so proud of him and how well he has coped with all the medical issues he has had to deal with. I am one happy Mimi right now.

Hi Annie. Thank you for getting back to me. I didn't know my email was blocked, probably one of those times I thought I would "fix" something, apparently I didn't! Not surprising. I'm happy for you that the house sold. I am always amazed at how much "valuable stuff" I manage to accumulate. Treasures, I tell my husband. Thank you for catching up with Rhana. She is a real hero. I'm sorry the kids didn't win, but let's hope this has brought the enormous need for funding for people with challenges to the forefront. As the grandmother of a young lady who is living with similar challenges, I realize the need for help from both public and private sources. Insurance just does not cover it all. Please keep in mind, any help you can give to anyone or any organization, be it a donation, a fundraiser or even to volunteer to help, is a wonderful thing. Yes, it went wonderfully. Thank you for asking. She is home. She had surf, turf, potatoes and artichoke for dinner, with welcome home cake and said it was the best meal she ever ate! Her heart rate is the best it's been in months. I guess home is truly the best place to be. I'm so grateful for everyone's thoughts, prayers and encouragement. Mary Ps: her "pesky" 6 year old brother slept in her room with her last night. Just because he wanted to make sure she was alright. :)

What amazingly good news. I am so happy for her. I think all kids secretly look forward to going back to school and seeing their friends. It's been a long wait for Rhana.

You've been so terrific to share her journey with us. Hope she gets some inside info on the hunk!
