I also find it hard to believe...that it's been 8 years....and that it even happened at all....
|
No, I haven't forgotten here either, and I won't let my girls forget. I still wear a bracelet with the name of an NYPD officer killed there, a simple sterling band engraved with NYPD Robert Fazio. Ashley has one with the name of a woman killed in the Pennsylvania crash and Amanda has the name of a child killed on the Pentagon plane. No, I haven't forgotten.... Annie

Remembering my friend, Carolyn and all of the others who perished on that awful day. RIP

Remembering too! So many memories. My personal recurring nightmare vision is of those poor souls jumping to their death as an alternative. How does one make a decision like that? I have revisited the site many times in the last 8 years, the personal stories overwhelm me but I can't stop going back. My department was located at 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza, three blocks from WTC. So I stayed across the street (Millenium Hilton) from WTC whenever I was in town for meetings. I so loved the WTC; I always requested a hotel room overlooking the twin towers.

A day that will never be fogotten. It is a painful reminder of the price that was and is still being paid for our freedom. Even looking at a clock when it says 9:11 brings memories of that day. Deepest sympathies to those that lost loved ones. Brenda

Eileen, thank you for starting this thread. I will never forget the complete disbelief of that day. A high school friend, Bonnie, died in the second tower and Eric, the son of a college friend, worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and was at work that day. Remember the heroes of the Shanksville plane, too, and all those who died at the Pentagon. So so sad.

It is sad when you think of all the potential lost on that one day. I will never forget being the teacher at a one room school and one of the parents came by and told me to let the kids out for recess so that they could talk to me and they gave me the news. Being out there with no way of finding out what really happened was a scary day for me and my 8 students. The hardest thing is knowing my 4 little ones who were born after that day will never know a world like I knew it as a child. Stacie

Thank you for starting this thread. I've never felt so shaken and I was 1500 miles away here in Louisiana. My heart goes out today to everyone who was near the crashes and who knew someone personally whose life ended on this tragic day. I remember that after about 5 hours of being glued to the television, I just couldn't mentally couldn't take any more. I went to the barn and went out for a ride....life seemed so perfect and beautiful in my little corner of the world as I watched the cows and meandered around in the pastures of my neighbors. Then I realized that I was 10 miles north of one of the largest oil refineries in the world and 10 miles south of a nuclear power plant. Suddenly even my little corner of the world seemed very scary. Can you imagine people who live in countries where bombings occur on a regular basis? I was proud that my youngest played TAPS at his college this morning at a memorial service on their outdoor colonnade. I hope that future generations remember the lives lost ..... all individuals with hopes and dreams and families who loved them.... Grace
