My sweet boy is gone.....

Mojo crossed the bridge tonight around 6:45pm EDT. He passed in the grass on the front lawn. We had a good day together, he enjoyed his two favorite treats...an ice cream cone and a little splash of beer (not at the same time).

It was all so surreal. Took less than 20 minutes, we were loving him up amd kissing him even after he was gone.

We buried him in a cool spot under a big maple tree at the edge of the woods. Our neighbor came over and helped with the burial and brought a cross with his name on it. That brought even more tears to my eyes.

I don't wish this upon any person....it is by far the most heart-wrenching thing I have ever experienced.

But I know my puppy is now pain free, and I am sure my dad and many others are there welcoming him over to the other side.

Thank you all for your support and kind words. I never dreamed this would be as difficult as it has been.

You can quit harping about the 2-cycle. It's gone. Toro makes the Lawn-Boy brand hoping to cash in on the Lawn-Boy reputation. The model line is quite different than the Toro line, from bottom to top. I'm hoping they are not dropping the LB line because the current models are the best mowers out there. I have a 2004 10684 and a 2007 22271. As far as I can tell from the Toro site, they do not have a Toro that is the same form, fit and function as either one. I looked at the Toro SR4 many times over a period of several years at the local hardware store. The main things that kept me from buying one were; ordinary engine and a definitely light front end, even with the empty bag. If I'm going to have a regular flathead engine, I'm not paying $600 for the mower. I bought the 10684 for half that price and liked it so much that I was considering the Platinum 10795 (same deck design but aluminum, with Honda GCV 160cc engine) when I discovered the commercial 22271 with Honda commercial GSV 190cc. I had to have one, and it has not disappointed. Unless Toro has come up with a new model, I don't believe they have a mower like that in their lineup. Even the lowest-priced LB outperforms the Recyclers in most every area.

I love the pictures of the two of you. He is adorable! And let me be the first to say, after you mentioned those of us who are grandmas knowing exactly how you feel, that I DO know exactly how you feel :-)) My husband was kind enough to share his grandkids with me when we married almost 5 years ago, and I love them like my own. But nothing compared to the feeling that I had when my son and his wife presented me with a grandson almost two years ago (July) and then my step daughter with another grandson (Oct of same year). There is something so special about those babies... seeing and holding them as newborns for the first time... watching them grow. My heart just overflows! The older ones are great and I am proud to call them my grandchildren, but wow! Grandbabies are just so special!

I am having the same problem , i know my husband for 7 years but married a year and half my son was 7 when we met, he decided to call him daddy but he was okay and he started treating my son badly, i left in 2019 for him to get help, he did and we got married in 2020 he was good to my son in the entire 2020 till our marriage in dec 2020 my son got on very well with him then we moved into a house he bought and then the nonsense started he shows no love and reprimands my son all the time and we have to walk on egg shells with him, he treats my son badly and says i dont shout at my son or reprimands him which i always do and give him the rope to discipline him, but nothing my son does or say is right in his eyes, i left in may 2022 and he still is picking on my son ,but even he did go for counselling but nothing has changed i cannot expose my son to this, because i choose my son all the time, and i will always, my son is 12 now, and he does not want to ever see my husband again and he said he will never ever call him dad he has damaged my child and therefore i will never go back, he is toxic and a narcissist, he has uprooted my son and my life so many times and i have had enough and i am done, i love my child too much to allow him to treat him this way, i love my husband as well, but at the end what is the sense in having a house but not a home.My son is my life and i will not allow anyone to treat him that way, i dont deny my son does things and is naughty as well, but to be treated like you always wrong is not on, my son talked about suicide as well, so that we can be happy and that pushed me over the edge,i wont lose my child to a man, i also have cancer and he is the one that is aggravating my cancer because i stress so much what is he doing to my son, we are emotionally abused by this man, he walked away from 2 marriages because of the children and by the way it way his own so there is no way he will tolerate mine. any advise for me

Aw, Linda, I am so sorry. Of course these things are inevitable, but that doesn't make it any easier. I am glad both of you were spared that awful trip to the vet and he could go surrounded by his family. He sure was a beauty.

I'm very sorry Linda. The more we love the more it hurts to lose them. When Duke passed I sat down at the computer and wrote about him and all the funny things he did and the crazy good times we had together. It was therapeutic to a certain degree. Love lasts forever....remember that. Thanks for the picture...it really shows his personality.

He had good, responsible parents with you two! My pets always hated the vet's office; how nice that he had treats & pets & cool grass to lay on.

Yes, Linda, it does take some time and you never really get over it. It's too hard and we don't have them for nearly long enough.

I was thinking of you yesterday and you are still in my thoughts today. It was the right thing to do, because you loved him, but that doesn't make it any less difficult. I'm glad he got to stay home...

Linda, Mojo was fortunate to have a wonderful family who loved and cared for him all these years. While we mourn our pets passing, we must remember the joy they brought and the unconditional love they gave us while we were fortunate to hve them. You showed him how much you love him at the end and I'm sure he's at peace. You may miss him but he will be with you forever.

Linda, there are tears in my eyes for Mojo too. You were lucky to have a special dog that you could love so much. I feel that way about my Roxie and dread the day she can't be with me anymore. But that day will come, as it does for all of us.

I know there are lots of tears all around the CF, certainly I'v shed them every day. But Mojo will live forever in your hearts and at some point, while the hurt never goes away, you will remember the great times more and the hard time less.

I hope he's found our O.D.Hoover and Brockley - they will love your beautiful boy.

Linda, your grief is vast right now, as is normal when a loved one passes. I won't say the pain will end, but I will say that bearing it becomes easier and the tears fall less often. It's been 3 years since our precious Pinky passed and while I do cry at times for missing her, it's been 30 years since I lost my love Fanny and I still miss her but the tears are infrequent. Our lab boxer mix Pinky and my doberman Fanny and our dear sweet cocker Buffy will all help take care of Mojo. I thought of you all many times yesterday. I'm glad the day was such a good one. Beer and ice cream and the soft grass. He was a beautiful boy.

Well, yesterday was pretty much a day of just going through the motions. Tim and I both had a really good cry last night. Felt good to just let loose.

Today I feel better and actually got some gardening done this morning.

Again, I appreciate all the kind words. I know that so many of you have experienced this so you do know exactly how it feels. Life goes on. Every day will get a little easier.

I do go and sit with him for a few minutes each day. At least for now I find it comforting.

Although I've been away from my computer for several days, I've been thinking of you. I couldn't think of a better way to handle such a tough, tough thing to do. He was such a cute and handsome dog, and so loved. I bet he loved you right back several times over. My heart goes out to you during this time of grief.

Thank you all. Everyone has been so supportive.

I watched a video that I took of Mojo and Chessa playing a couple of years ago. It made me realize how bad he really was at the end. He hadn't played or run or even taken a walk in many months.

I think the video helped me feel better about making the decision to let him go.

I miss him so much my heart just aches, but I know it will get easier over time.
