Payers Needed Please

I just received an email from my son Justin, a very good friend was involved in a motorcycle accident last night. He's had head surgery and remains in a coma, it does not look good, but I know the power of prayer, especially from this wonderful group! His name is Dustin and he just found out he is going to be a daddy! It's jsut all so sad!

Because I pampered it for 3 years from a 4 inch tall little band plant and it never grew more than 3 feet tall. Then it died suddenly. If I could buy Marachel Niel on rootstock I'd buy another in a heartbeat. From what I read from another gardener who dug up a 9 foot tall M.N the rootball on the plant was no where near large enough to support its' growth, which is why it died. Rootstock= more vigor. I'm considering Lichtkonigenigin Lucia' because its' available on rootstock and would grow to be six feet tall in a year or two, and I am aware of my own mortality these days. I like the way they look hanging straight as in the last picture. However, if possible, I would shorten the rod a little. There's a little more rod beyond curtain than I like to see. You've done a great job keeping up with our suggestions and getting back with pictures! I think there is a rule of thumb for that but I don't know what it is, probably about 3".

I'd vote for the basketweave (and not just because I used the floral on the wall in my kitchen). Mosaics generally aren't slippery - the grout lines make them grippier than a lot of large(r) format tiles. I have these crappy white 6x6's in every bathroom in this house (ugh) and you could like to kill yourself on those with wet feet. The issue with the floral is that onyx can be fragile. I got a pretty decent lot, but I also hand inspected every single sheet, removed the "uglies" and used two sheets to replace the rejected pieces. The marble also has some very distinct gray (which does not appear in your limestone) but does appear in my Corian, so I'm not bothered by it. And yes, I did use bright white grout and no, I would never use traditional white sanded grout on a bathroom floor. At a tile shop you'd likely have more choices in the white/cream family. I just think that overall the basketweave is a stronger choice for your space. If you got a very grey lot of the floral you'd be even more behind on tile - and stuck with it to boot. Lisa

I realized you posted 2 weeks ago. Just saw this today. I wonder how it goes. If still nothing, I think it's the seeds. I tried NG impatiens for the first time this year and had no problem in germination. The variety is called "Florific". Actually I think NG impatiens seeds are easier than regular impatiens because they are bigger. I use tofu container, peat moss + perlite, and salad box as the "dome". Don't have heating mat. Just stack the salad box near hot air vent. No watering until the seeds sprouted. The temperature was around 70-72 in the day and went down to 65. So it's definitely on the cold side and I assume warmer setup they should come out faster. Anyway, at 2 weeks my seeds have sprouted, not all of them but majority of them. I don't think they require light because I put my seed trays at the bottom of the stack. In the picture they are 3-week old. Hope you got the seedlings up by now. Otherwise it's probably a little too late to start over.

Maybe I have this wrong but I had a bit of a deja vu on this post. Another Dustin, another motorcycle accident and I recall that he made it through OK. So I pray it goes for your sons friend.

It is VERY early, but if you have the opportunity to encourage them to start reading about head injury, please do so. It sounds like Dustin is going to have many, many challenges ahead, as will his family and friends.
I am hoping and praying for the very best recovery possible!

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. I just learned that Dustin passed away. Life is heartbreaking sometimes. He and Justin were like brothers. They were in the Coast Guard together. Dustin was so full of life and love and so excited about being a daddy! It's just so sad!

Oh no.......

How very, very sad. So young, and how heartbroken his young wife must be. The new baby is a joy but also a heartbreak.

I am so very sorry to read this news. I was hoping he would somehow pull through. Perhaps the new baby will be a comfort to Dustin's family and friends. My condolences to all.
