Anyone know what to block to get rid of the obnoxious, space-eating picture that just showed up this morning?

Fanboys and Easylist are both good general subscriptions. Nowadays when Adblock Plus installs, it automatically subscribes you to one or the other at random. Yeah, if you don't have Easylist in there, and you disable Fanboy, you won't be subscribed to any list and Adblock Plus won't do you a bit of good. So you'll want to re-enable it. Optionally, if you want to try Easylist, it's here: http://easylist.adblockplus.org/en/ or if you'd rather: Add EasyList to Adblock Plus I wouldn't subscribe to both at the same time though, it might slow your browser down too much checking through two huge lists. :) Edit: It's okay to have both Easylist and Fanboy listed in you subscriptions... just don't have both enabled(checked) at the same time. Edit2: I just tried Fanboy on one of my other computers just in case there was a problem with one of his filters. It "seems" to work fine. You need to add the easy list subscription to the adblock plus, in the settings you can select the subscriptions.

PK and Dave, thank for your help. When I first started using abp and the easy list, I could go to the filters I had placed on it, I think of it as my personal filters. I used right click to block ads or pictures at the top of this web site. One time I couldn't view photos on other sites so I went to my personal filters and deleted all to see if that helped. Then abp changed their software and I can't find a place to see those filters. I had a script problem and thought it may be because I block an ad that caused the hang up and script warning. I am having a lot more small problems than I have never had before. CCleaner causes me to loose the colors on visited and unvisited sites. They disappear after I use CC. I contacted CCleaner and a rep told me: "The feature that you have described is some of the data which is saved in Cookies.To prevent this problem from occurring again, simply uncheck "Cookies" within the cleaning category that pertains to your internet browser(s)." I reset FF and it did stop the script warning but it still hangs up on in THS. So far that hasn't happened this morning. This post was edited by EmmaR on Sat, Mar 23, 13 at 11:51

third, for the legit programs you have, whether free or ones you've purchased, my advice to you is to accept updates anytime they're communicated and give it no further thought. I consider myself to be a PC user of intermediate knowledge. In in my experience, even with open source projects like Firefox, the true nature of updates is rarely fully disclosed and even it if were, you as an average user would be unable to understand the real story of what's going on and why. Trust the experts (the people who are managing the software you use) and take their advice. Accept all updates and move on.

Easy -- just right click on the picture and then click on Adblock Plus: block image.

Voila -- it's gone.

Ewwww -- now there is a big empty box that's worse than the picture of the too-neat living room. Any answers?

It went away entirely for me, and closed up the space.
I have Ad-block Plus.

I don't know about right-clicking; on a Mac I used Control-click and got a menu that included "block image." When I clicked on that I got a dialog box with the specifics of the image and asking me to confirm that I wanted to block it. All gone.

I can't find it now, but it was something with "decor" in the description. Closed up the space, looks like it did before.

Thanks CChristine. I also have a Mac - my dialog said something different, but I got rid of the picture. I had to add the filter to the adblock box. Thanks again.

Another picture came up. Harvest/canning. You can't block too much because then you're blocking all of gardenweb. What a PITA. And that ain't bread, either.

So they give us these annoying things and yet allow spam posts on a lot of other forums. Sigh.

It was in another forum, and it had not been there a while earlier. Perhaps Household Finance or Money saving tips. But the Decor picture was on every forum, at least all I checked.

I just saw the decor tonight for the first time. It's creepy for GW to be posting our photos like that. I know that they're on a public forum, but the galleries are a bit more private. Well, I suppose they're better than looking at ads or spam!
