Spain is SO Happy!

After winning the World Soccer Championship last night in the final against Holland in South Africa.

As it's very warm here, we had doors and windows open, as did most people in town so the roar could be heard all over the island when Spain made that goal.

Then started the noise of fireworks and car horns tooting all over for a couple of hours. Everyone is smiling and in a good mood today!

Congratulations! I actually woke up to some of that noise -- they were reporting on it on NPR this morning which I listen to in order to wake up. The cheering did the job. LOL

And I immediately thought of you Sharon! I'm sure the celebrations continue. What fun!

Oh yeah, I remembered a week ago to think of you Sharon in case Spain won, and dang it I made a mental note to congratulate you and I forgot. Belated congrats!

Now all I want is a vuvuzela heh heh

Good for you IÂm glad it was that easy for you. It took nine months of the GE repairman coming to my house every Monday before GE finally replaced my less than 2 year old refrigerator. My neighbor thought I was having a fling with the young man and ask DH about it. LOL He replaced everything in the refrigerator and it still froze everything I put in it. I havenÂt any reason to believe that the new one will last five years and you bet I will never buy GE again. Claudia

@lucky998877 and @Amy Banta those are gorgeous kitchens and that hood looks fantastic! I bought a 48" GE Monogram hood (https://appliances.monogram.com/us/specs/ZV48SSJSS), a GE Monogram Double Oven, and a GE Monogram 48" gas range from a very affluent house that was remodeling. I bought them for $1000. It was their "builder" grade appliances LOL. Anywho, oven and range work fantastic. The bottom oven was never used and looks brand new. All of it in great shape. We were having placement issues with the way they put the vent to the outside of the house that was making the hood too low for my liking (it is also a huge hood). I think we might have found a solution to get it to the point where I am not going to hit my head on it. It is a $3400 model they still sell and I went and looked at today at Pacific Sales. I would love to not spend more money on a new hood. If we can't get it to work, this Zephyr hood is what we will go with. That will require moving the electrical plug and re-doing tile work which I do not want to do. But we will see! Here is a picture of there it needs to go along with a picture of the double ovens I bought in the deal.

Lovely, Sheila... I'm glad you stuck with it too. :-) Such graceful foliage and habit - as Ingrid says, an example of why so many of us prefer the older roses to their modern successors. The petals seem so delicate and fine it looks almost as if they're made of gauze, and I particularly like the characterful way (some of) the buds seem to be paler/white-ish than the opened flower, then still stay soft white-ish as they get big, fat and globular, before opening fully to show the deeper colour within, still surrounded by a pale aura of translucent outer petals. I wonder whether that tendency to droop (I just saw an old post with pics from Catspat about it) might be at least somewhat dependent on soil nutrients? I can never remember if it's potassium or phosphorus, and/or something else, that is supposed to make 'weak necks' stronger, but maybe you have a bit more of it/them in your soil there?

I thought of you, too, when I heard Spain was in the finals. What an exciting game! Our city went crazy when the Phillies won the World Series a couple years ago, so I can't even imagine what it's like to have a whole country celebrating! So much fun.

If I never hear another vuvuzela again as long as I live, it will be too soon.

It was such an exciting win !! downtown Montreal had a lot of cars honking and flags waving for many hours after the game , our city really likes soccer.

Another with a late congrats to Spain! I also thought of you and the islands when I heard the news. I know you are busy with company...I'm sure y'all are eating good things out and about and on your patio looking over your wonderful back yard Sharon.

I don't think many people got much work done the next day here lol.

Not out and about yet David, thanks! My sister and her travel mate arrive Friday afternoon so I'm still polishing the doorknobs and painting the gateposts LOL.
And I do intend to have a meatloaf and maybe even a pie ready for their dinner upon arrival, although it's too warm for turning on the oven.
But when they're here I intend to show them some of the cutest places for dining.

She and the City of Gardens Chorus (from Victoria, B.C.) were the only Canadian entries in the LLangollen music competition in Wales and they came third in their category of Barbershop and Close Harmony. Their tour finishes tomorrow.

Not that it has anything to do with the soccer game, but here's a clip of the chorus performing in Wales.
She's one of the dark haired ladies in the back row. Too bad no sound though.
