Thanks for posting the link. (I've been wondering how the adventure was going, especially in light of Jessica Watson's voyage.) I read the entire blog update. It's a pleasure to read it. His descriptions of life at sea are wonderful. I look forward to his posts about French Polynesia, as many years ago, I spent some time sailing around the islands.

For the past week, my son has been in sailing lessons. It's his 3rd summer sailing. He's hooked. I have a funny feeling I'll be posting his blog in a few years...

Eileen, I've been watching for a post, I'm glad he's safe and sound so far. I still haven't told Ashley that there's an opening for a sailing wench, she's got exams this week and I don't want to distract her. (grin)

WOW!! I read his update during lunch today. Even without pictures I could picture what he is expirencing on his travels...excellent writing for sure. I too look forward to some of the pics. Talk about a trip of a lifetime! Looking forward to hear more as his voyage continues.

Daniel called me yesterday and we spoke briefly. I shared with him all of the nice feedback from my cooking forum friends. He might have blushed if I had been able to see him. :) They are going to head for the exact area of the total eclipse so perhaps he will have some photos to share.

He will upload images when he has a decent internet connection. I will let you all know when that happens. I can hardly wait!

Lydia has left the Leeway and is making her way to Australia by crewing on several other boats heading in that direction. So Lydia is no longer with them. She was the only other crew member.

It's just Captain Dan and Danny and Danny is the only one who posts to the blog. He has been reading a lot so I suspect that as a youthful writer his language is often influenced by whoever he read last or spent time with recently. When he first started blogging I could hear Captain Dan's style of speaking in his writings. Captain Dan has always been on the boat.

It's just Danny writing. What makes you think otherwise?

Just getting around to reading some of the older posts since I've been on hiatus from CF... WOW! What is the plan for the trip? How long and where are they going?

I just love it when young people do something adventurous! He'll have some memories for sure! Congratulations Eileen on raising a young man who is confident enough to go off and see the world!

Danny called me yesterday! They are still on the same island and have become fast friends with locals. They are fed and served wine every night. In return Dan and Danny are building a new, lovely staircase for them. The stairs were falling apart and dangerous and Dan took a spill from them several times. Dan builds beautiful staircases. Danny is learning new skills. They are fine though currently recovering from a virus that swept through the island. Their damaged boat bits are scattered around the island for repairs with well meaning locals but little progress has been made. They plan to head for Tahiti when they are ready but seem to in no hurry and are happily engaged where they are at the moment. He may post again to the blog soon but still will not be able to upload images until they are elsewhere.

Grace, they will stay in French Polynesia for another month and a half then they will sail to Hawaii where they will sail around those islands until the end of the year when they will deliver the boat to the owner.

There is a story about a mysterious stranger who stopped at a chapel in Santa Fe and built a fabulous staircase, and then left.
I hope Dan and Danny's staircase lasts as long as the one in Santa Fe.
As I ahve said many times....the adventure of a lifetime!

Glad to hear that you got a call from Danny Eileen! I'm sure that put you over the moon so to speak. A trip and expirence of life time for sure. I can't wait for the pics but his writing really brings it to mind for me without them. Reminds me of Sharon's daughter and her travels around the world at such a young age. Great kids and great adventures that's for sure. Hey, maybe they hook up with Justin when they get to Hawaii....depending on which island and port they will be at. Now that would be a forum first. Look forward to more updates.

Oh wow, what a time. I can't even imagine sitting on a boat at sunrise, drinking coffee and watching the islands growing nearer.

Although he's seen bad weather and alien abductions (LOL), and eaten things he probably never imagined, I'm most impressed by his ability to go somewhere he's never been, overcome the language barrier and make friends with everyone.

What a great life experience, and one that most of us wouldn't have the opportunity or the nerve to undertake.

Smooth sailing to both of the guys. Ashley takes her Board exams in August, maybe she can meet them for the last bit of the trip for Hawaii...(grin).

Annie, maybe she can go to Hawaii and be the galley wench for a cruise around the islands! Daniel makes several new best friends everywhere he goes. He is just a sweetie pie.

Oh geez, Eileen, I tell her that and I'd better start saving more money, because she's gonna want a plane ticket to Hawaii!!

Annie, I love that photo, too! I especially love that he developed friendships with the kids on the island.

What an amazing adventure Danny is having! I am in total awe of him and his crew mates. Memories for a lifetime!

I just love reading about Dan's adventures. Makes me want to have one of my own.

Barnmom, how about you and I take off in pursuit of them? Do you know how to sail? I don't.

I don't know how to sail! But I can buy airline tickets like a pro!

I spent my lunch hour catching up and taking in the great pics today. What a flippin' amazing experience/trip/adventure. Thanks again for sharing it with us Eileen and Danny!!
