Wow! I love just doing crosswords, can't imagine actually writing one! Congratulations.

Call the LATimes circulation offices. They will send you all the copies you want. Also, Nathan's agent (or whoever got him into the Times in the first place) will have extra copies, too.

I should have included this in my comment above:

I think you should save the entire paper, not just the section, for the archives. It will be more meaningful that way. If he gets published regularly after this, then the section or even just the puzzle will do, but for his first, you need the whole paper! Context is important.

My husband saved the whole paper from my his first Page One byline way back in the beginning of his career when he was 22, and I'm so glad he did. Would have been silly to save all the whole papers over the next 40 years (I cut out all his stories), but the first one is important!

You might have to pay a little for the extra copies, but it is worth it.

Thanks Sherry, You're probably right, it might be better to keep at least one copy of the whole paper.

Apparently Nathan has tried to get a copy through the "proper channels" with no success. I'm not sure if he called the circulation office though! I'll tell him to try that.

Also, I think that the LA Times puzzle is syndicated, which means that it will show up in other papers around the country, too, and possibly on other dates. We should all be looking for it!

Also, I can buy all the major papers in Barnes & Noble and Borders in my little suburban Milwaukee store, so try that, too, on the day of publication. Most bookstores sell national dailies; so do lots of smaller shops, even tobacco stores, for some reason! A copy or two of the LATimes should be fairly easy to get on the day of publication, without the hassle and cost of mailing. Good luck.

Denise, thank you!!! I'm at work and won't see your email till I get home tonight. In the meantime, I told Nathan to call the local bookstores and see if we can get it locally. Which won't happen till after NOON I'm sure as he is still snoozing away at this moment. (He's on summer break.)

If we can get it locally, that will be the ideal solution. If not, I'll take advantage of your generosity. :)

Nathan called both Borders and Barnes and Noble, and neither of them carry out of state newspapers. I wonder if the demand for that sort of thing has just dissipated due to the internet.

The L.A. Times circulation department only sends back copies so no way to make arrangements with them to send a future copy! LOL

So, I will email y'all when I get home. I REALLY appreciate all of y'all helping me out.

Our local paper carries that puzzle so I'll look for it and send it along when it comes out. Syndication reprints take a little longer, maybe a day, maybe a week or more.

Thanks for posting that Denise. I did do the puzzle on line this morning, it took me just under 25 minutes. I had no idea I was even being timed till I completed it and the time popped up!

I am sorry to report that my local paper doesn't give the name of the author of a puzzle, only the "editors". But congratulations on Nathan making the Big Time!

Nathan is highly intelligent to make such a challenging puzzle.
