I got a 4 sets of Lefton Voilet chintz Snack Plates and Cups.... for $6.00!!!!!

I love my local thrift shop!

Alexa, those are very pretty, that is a good deal. Yup, I love the thrift shops too, although mine are pretty slim pickings lately.

I penned a response yesterday, but the #$@^% pop-up erased it - grrrr ! AGP, I will check w/Homewood and see if I get the same answer, or as suggested, maybe that HW person was confusing the Black Lace w/BB - possible, there's soooo much to know about! Meanwhile, me who has made so much noise about BL is now re-thinking my potential location. What occurred to me is that spring color in the front of my house is not what I need - there's already a riot out there! - what I want/need is a more evergreen (with bloom would be great) to tie the mini-gardens down thru the winter months and still look great thru the summer. Camellias are getting my attention just now ...... (I still do want a BL Elderberry, just not for this specific area.) I have two fall bloomers - one tall espaliered (sp) on the back wall and another compact shrubby one in front. They're both of pink coloration and bloom their heads off every year. Also have three late winter bloomers - two whites and a pink - they often get nipped, but when they do get to show their stuff (like last non-winter), they're spectacular. If I can get the right configuration for my front areas, they should fill the bill and provide the visual repetition/consistancy I like. I bumped into a website for Camella Forest in Chapel Hill - looks like they have most every type in creation ..... anybody know of or about them?

Thanks for your comments, everyone! Luvs...you tried to "lead me astray" last winter, I remember! Tsk! Tsk! PM50...those plum blossom I've been using alot...hope I'll run across more somewhere...need 2 more plates & bowls for a setting of 4. Thanks for the Espress website...I did look but I still can't find ones like these ..embossed around top edges ...same color. Think I will probably watch for a cheaper set somewhere of white. Jane...Spode & potato chips, uh? Sounds like trouble! Will be fun to watch for when we go camping & such this summer! And, yes, the GW online dishes I got for $9 but the shipping killed the deal! UGH! No more of that! froufrou & lynn... I do love the contrast brown Sango's! Gordman's used to be called "Half Price Store" & lots of good deals there...these 4 plates caught my eye on the clearance table! I do ck out TJMaxx here, Lynn...love that place...cause something's always changing! Today I got another garden bunny statue...I'll post a pic later. Milo,OA, Lucky & Kathleen...Thanks! Karen, I think the members here could create something similar just by stacking items we already have and use tacky to temorarily hold them together for a vignette! Great ideas and she has some really pretty/cute birdbaths. My mind is already thinking of dishes/urns/stuff I have that I could put together for different displays. TFS, Candy

I am reviving this thread, as I am looking to replace/upgrade my everyday stoneware dishes. Was thinking I wanted to get plain white, but while shopping did find I was drawn to the colourful stoneware dishes... Part of the reason I wanted to replace my current set was the grey (Now I know from cutlery) marks all over the dishes. From reading this post, I cleaned them all off with BKF, magic eraser didn't work at all. Totally amazed at how new they all look, but many of the plates have chips under the rims, so am going to buy new. After doing research on the web for a few days, it is not 100% clear how to avoid those cutlery marks on dinnerware, various opinions blamed the SS count, ie whether is was 18/10, 18/8 etc. I have a feeling it is the stoneware that marks up the most. My porcelain and my good china dishes aren't marked. DH says it's because they're not used as much. He's right, they don't get much use, but I'm wondering if those of you who DO use porcelain or bone china daily still get grey marks. To make it even harder, just got an email today that Ikea is putting their Fargrik 6 place setting stoneware set on sale for $19.99! Maybe I just buy 2 sets of that for now, and wait to fall in love with some coloured/patterned set and buy when it's on sale. Still won't address the grey cutlery marks...

Very nice!

Once I get the hang of the new camera I'll take a picture on my cute dish thrift shop find. I went to a new thrift shop advertised as the "boutique of thrift shops". I didn't find anything that was overly impressive.

Thansk everyone! This particular Thrift Store is only a couple of miles form my house and I pass it on a regular basis, so it is wasy for me to pop in often. Also, we have been on a mad closet cleaning spree here so I've had lots to drop off - who can drop stuff without taking a peek! LOL!

Now I just need to decide if I am going back for the Steubenville Espresso set (8 cups/saucers in a cranberry with gold rim) for $4.00. They are beautiful, but we dont drink a lot of coffee in the evening and they are too small for breakfast.

Our thrift shop charges more than new, and throw in a few cracks and chips for free!
