I feel your pain. Several years ago I got a stomach virus, followed by food poisoning and then the stomach virus again. I couldn't go any further from the bathroom than the front porch to get the mail. If I ate nothing I finally made it in to see my chiropractor. His advice was to eat yogurt to get the ph in my stomach back to the good side. Now I have a problem with dairy and didn't like yogurt at the time, but I ate it anyway. It took some time but it really did help. Make sure you get the yogurt with the live bacteria in it.

Call and or get to the doctor!! That is way to long for any kind of stomach issues. I hope you are drinking plenty of fluids to keep hydrated.

Your "stomach virus" has turned to an intestinal infection...bacterial infection. Get on the right antibiotic and it's done like magic!

I don't want to scare you, but these things that hang on like what you are saying can be very serious. The SIL of a friend had symptoms like you describe. She was feeling slightly better and was supposed to go with her DH to a company party. That night she wasn't feeling so good after all and stayed home. Her DH went and when he returned home 3 hours later, she was still in the same chair but had died. The autopsy showed a sever bacterial infection. She was in her 50's.

Don't fool around with something like this that hangs on..

I've suffered with issues for years, but I concur, you're describing a bacterial infection! Flagyl and more ASAP!

Doctor time for sure. It could be a number of things, none of them good. Go get diagnosed and treated!

I agree, go to your doctor. Dehydration is very dangerous. Even if it's a virus, you may need to be given IV fluids. Don't fool around with this. BTDT with my son when he was a toddler. He ended up in the hospital for a couple days due to dehydration because the idiot nurse told me nothing by mouth while he's throwing up.

I do hope you went to the doctor. Some people run to the doc if they sneeze once and others won't go until they practically have to crawl through the door. That's what the doctor is there for -- to see you when you are sick -- and baby, you are.

If your doc can't see you right away, go to your emergency department.

I've been told to drink gatorade when I've got the runs, not only to keep fluids up but also to replce electrolytes. Even during colonoscopy prep, that's what to drink.

When in doubt I fax my doctor. That way messages don't get garbled and I get to ramble on as long as I want, and I include my local pharmacy info as well in case a prescription needs to be called in.

If you don't like Gatorade, a good alternative is Pedialyte. It will replace and rebalance your electrolytes. I believe it comeAs in popsicle form, as well as liquids.The doc has me taking small doses of it right now to help raise potassium levels caused by 3 months of stomach issues.

I hope you are on the road to recovery and that you have seen your doctor. A week is about 4 days to long to mess with this.

I'm off to the pharmacy now - they're starting me off with 500 mg of Cipro to see if that knocks it out me **fingers crossed**.

Thanks for lighting the fire under me to do something about this, it *has* been too long and I was starting to get a little frightened. I certainly don't recall ordering the tapeworm last week at the Botswana Cafe last week so it had to be something else. I think the stupid flooding tainted my well and kept this thing going.

Glad you called in the big guns. Hope you feel better. In the meantime, boil your water before you drink it if you think that is the culprit. And eat activia yogurt (but not vanilla--not good).

Well....cipro has it's own issues....it'll kill any bacteria in the area....good and bad. So be on the alert for vaginal yeast and for absence of good intestinal bacteria...after a couple of days start with a yogurt with active cultures....a good excuse to get some of that great Greek yogurt ande at it with a little sugar and vanilla...or a peach!
You'll feel better in a couple of hours!
AND if you are not lots and lots better in 2 days, get your self back there as it could be some sort of a parasite that the Cipro won't touch.

So glad to hear you called the doc. There -- wasn;t that easy? I hope Cipro is the answer.

Also think if you have had any recent medication changes. Jim was on a BP medication for a while that lead to reactions, and dehydration and 8 days in the hospital! Benistat. It can sneak up on you. You can be on it for a while before you develop a reaction. Other medications can affect you, too.

I'm glad you went to the doc and LindaC is right, the antibiotic kills the good bugs with the bad, be sure to eat some yogurt with live cultures or take some acidophilis.

And boil your water until you can get it tested or stock up on bottled drinking water until then.

Definitely feeling alot better! I don't want to jinx it but I think the Cipro was the ticket. Broke the fever and stopped roiling.

And on CF DRMom's collective orders I've been having yogurt for breakfast and lunch everyday :)

Still making the coffee with Poland Spring just in case.

When I was doing chemo...my white count was low low...I was directed to call....any time of the day or night if my temp was above 99.5 or something.
Well, every time I had chemo my temp rose....and they had me rush to the hospital for a blood count and then to Cipro....finally I figured out that a fever was my body's natural response to the insult of chemotherapy....and didnt' call....and by noon of the next day the fever was gone.
Cipro is the big gun!
But eat that yogurt!!

YAY! I am happy you are feeling better... btw eat the yogurt, but you can also supplement with acidophlous capsules.... they are with the vitamins and supplements in the drug store.
