I guess you will be getting more than we will, but I just am so tired of gray weather. April showers and it isn't even April yet. Get out the bumbershoot!

Lakeland got over 7 inches of rain for the month of March. The drought scale is under 100 so we are in no threat of drought.

Well the bottom of my road got wicked flooded, and that hasn't happened in the nine years I've been here. The town put out barricades which people promptly went around; many "sank" and from the looks of it the tow trucks made a killing all day.

I drove through with my truck a few times just to laugh at the stranded folks on their cell phones - the silly part is that the detour was literally one small block.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of growing up to be a Princess or Queen of a castle.... little did I know that I would literally end up with a moat! LOLOLOLOL! Yep - I am now on an island!

Well, I'm glad somebody is finding humor. We are not laughing. We are flooded.

Got up this morning & house was an island surrounded by water. Spoke with Emergency Management about 10 a.m. as they were checking out our penninsula for folks needing help. We decided to stay.

Late afternoon, DH went to use the restroom. Water was pouring up through the foundation & flooring in front of the toliet, the bathtub was filling, and the toliet was backed up & wouldn't flush.

We immediately assumed a sewer or water main back-up & phoned Public Works. A quick plat check indicated our house was higher than the lines so ruled out a sewer back-up. It was just flood water. The frustrating thing is that it started pouring in after the ridiculously heavy rains had virtually stopped!

DH pumped water for 2-1/2 hours before it stopped rising.

The bathroom is a mess. Drywall is wet all the way to the ceiling, flooring is loose, and baseboards are soaked.

We've got a fan on it & will have to wait a couple days to see exactly what the damage will be but for sure we'll have to redo the bathroom. Hopefully, the adjoining laundry room will be OK.

Mystic/Stonington has been all over the news due to this flooding. We're lucky. Much damage. Big damage. This morning, downtown Mystic was under 2' of water. We've had a bridge washed out in Old Mystic (16 water rescues) and lost another bridge in the Birdland area. Route 1 (Boston Post Road) has been closed since yesterday. We've been trapped on the penninsula until about 4:00 this afternoon. Much, much damage. Big losses. I'm still so upset I'm having trouble typing a coherent sentence.

Doplar indicated radar says we've had between 8-10" of rain. We were still cleaning up in New England from the last storm. Flooding across New England tonight is bad. Very bad. Some CT rivers are going to crest at historic levels...even higher than the '38 or '55 hurricanes.

Good lord, didn't they send an ark?!! Seriously, I'm sorry you experienced some damage and the headaches that accompany it!

wow! makes me very glad I didn't try to drive to work today... up Rte 9 past Middletown. I was heads down and had no idea until just now how bad it all is. Hope you are ok. I think I'll go call my friend on Gravel Street...

I'm so sorry, it looks awful. I hope you won't get any more water and that your repairs will go quickly and smoothly.

I'm so sorry for you folks who are flooded. Water damage is terribly difficult to deal with. But you will deal with it, as many have, and in time it will be nothing more than a fading memory. With a bit of luck you will never see flooding this bad again.
