Don't blow the glitter...

that's in the bowl, for decorating Easter eggs, or you'll end up looking like this! LOL!

Last night was an Easter egg night. I blew (stop Jessica) 3 dozen eggs so we could make glitter eggs...sigh! Every princess needs glitter eggs, right Annie! We also made spring slap braclets. Can't you just see how beautiful her new braclet is. I had to wear mine to pick up pizza!

DD#1 (Maggies Mom) was so excited...sigh. We do this every year and she looks so forward to it...sigh (grin). Look at that belly! We will have Grandchild #2 in early June :-)

After a good shower we dyed traditional Easter Eggs. Maggie was a happy camper and I've been cleaning up glitter all day long.

Too much fun!

I have a Toro leaf blower/vacuum. Shreds nicely for dry brown leaves, but freshly fallen autums leaves or wet leaves do not shred as well, they mainly get vacuumed up and partially broken. My pinecones are about 1.5 inches (daughter calls them the "baby cones") and we get plenty. I rake them out of my garden beds and lawn into a pile on the lawn. Then I use the leaf vacuum and suck them up. They chop up into a fine reddish brown mulch. Even applied in spring, these shredded cones have not led to any pine tree sprouts. The mulch smells nice if you like the smell of pine. WARNING - very dusty job. The bag that collects the shredded material will send out dust from the shredded pine cones, more than the dust from leaves. If there is a medium wind, I do it standing upwind of the bag so that the dust blows away from me. The earthworms LOVE the beds I have applied the pinecone mulch.

Hi mom-of-all-trades, thank you for the well wishes regarding my husband. A few things however I believe you misunderstood about my position in all of this. He is free and clear to spend as much time with them as he wants to, they are the ones who cut contact with us when he told them to stop lying all the time and stealing from us. They blocked us on facebook and the youngest has moved away and never let us know her contact info. The oldest refuses to tell us when asked. Husband has already extended the olive branch as it were twice without success. The ball is in their court... The youngest never really wanted anything to do with her half siblings and is so far gone in her relationship with her father that he doubts she will ever make contact again. (long story). The oldest still lives with her mother and her mother decided that she doesn't like me because I helped my husband not be a doormat to her and the demands for money that she would have just pissed away for herself (he wasn't required to pay child support and they are both over 18) and guilt she still tried to lay upon him regarding his older children. His oldest seems to have learned how to behave from her mother regarding the stealing, lying and manipulating. I didn't really have a problem with her spending time with my daughter until I started noticing things missing from my house. She even stole a pair of my husband's shoes. New ones that he just bought. Stealing not just from him, but from me as well. When confronted about it, lying and acting outraged at even being accused even though some of the stuff later appeared in her house. This is not the type of person either me or my husband want in our house regardless if she is his daughter. If she ever realizes that she needs to clean up her act and be honest and not steal, then she will be welcome again. And she has been told this. She isn't only hurting us, she is hurting her half-siblings with every item she takes that we have to replace. I have made it clear that I value honesty highly and at this point it is too hard for her to accept. We will see what happens in the future but like I said, I have a strong gut feeling that it will not. With all the glitter talk, I had to repost this :) I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week. Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor’s office to tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am. I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45am. The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn’t have any time to spare. As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn’t going to be able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in that area to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the procedure, as I’m sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away. I was a little surprised when the doctor said, “My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven’t we?” I didn’t respond. After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal .. Some shopping, cleaning, cooking. After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, “Mommy, where’s my washcloth?” I told her to get another one from the cupboard. She replied, “No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it.” Never going back to that doctor again……….. never.

AAH! Glitter!! Great stuff....and you will be cleaning up glitter for years and years she's only 2 ya know....and she will find reasons to glitter all the way through high school....and if she takes dance, she will even glitter her hair and her face...ON PURPOSE!!
It works it's way into the carpets ans between the floor boards, into upholstery and even into the grain in the wood on the table...only to emerge at odd times and remind you of when you did glitter eggs...or Valentine hearts, or bows for a gift...
Glitter and grand daughters are the best! Enjoy!

...what Linda says. Alice is 17 and about to leave for college. I still clean up glitter, glitter glue, Rit dye spills, hot glue drips, rhinestones, sequins.

HOW BEAUTIFUL...the eggs too! Nothing more fun than playing with the babies. Are you hosting the monster egg hunt this year?

I think that's a great project for next week. Did you spray the eggs with glue?

Pam, we don't have alot of blondies on our side but a few on Daddys side of the family. We are all still trying to figure out the blue eyes!

Nancy, were working on lot's of little Maggies. Although this next baby will be a complete surprise as far as the gender goes. Whoop!

Cathy, We used a tacky glue and sponge painted the glue on the eggs first. Then sprinkled the glitter on the eggs over a bowl. Don't sneeze because you will end up with a cloud of glitter. This really was alot of fun to do with Maggie. I know your babies will have fun too. Oh yeah, get the fine glitter at the craft store. The larger glitter doesn't stick as well.

Thank you everyone for indulging me! Sometimes ya just gotta share the good times.

I absolutely adore that first picture --- it would be worth cleaning up all of that glitter just to watch her have fun messing with it.

No glitter in my house either. My DS griped and fussed for days about glitter all over everything because a girl that had a crush on him gave him a Christmas present and thought it was cute to put glitter in the gift bag with the tissue paper. He did not find it amusing at all to have glitter on his clothes! Boys -- they are so weird!!

I want pics of the big Easter Egg Hunt next weekend.

The last time I played with glitter and dye was back in the 80's........yes it was in my hair. Had to look good for the dance club....those were the days and good times. Thankfully we took pics or we wouldn't remember...LOL

Congrats on #2 Grandma!! DD is shining and looking good with her bun in the oven!

What a beautiful little Princess you have, RR, and of course she needs glitter. And jewels and flowers and other fluffy stuff!

The eggs are pretty, but nowhere as pretty as your Princess is, she's getting so darned big.

My own Princess and her Bruvver will be hunting Easter Eggs at the local nursing home tomorrow, the residents just love to see the kids, so I'll get my camera packed right now so I don't forget it.

So Maggie may have a Bruvver? What fun, and twice as many to spoil!

Congrats to you and DD. And to Maggie, of course, being a big sister is IMPORTANT!

Never thought of glitter on eggs. Pretty!

I wash thinking the other day that we used to blow eggs (no, Jessy!) when I was a kid, but couldn't remember how it was done. After I got a certain age, we just used hard-boiled ones. I may have to re-educate myself on it and introduce the nephews to the fine art of real easter egg decorating. Stickers is cheating!

She is such a dolly and growing so fast!! What a special holiday tradition! My mother loved decorating eggs and always put together a darling basket filled with goodies! I tried blowing eggs with our kids, it's hard or maybe I don't know the right technique! Bada boom!
