Wow he is a tiny boy! My oldest son was tiny like Kaiden. He weighed 3lbs 7 1/2 ozs 33 years ago. Now he is an adult and small for an adult due to kidney disease. Just give Kaiden plenty of love and he will grow up big and strong . Congratulations to Mom & Dad, Grandparents and Great Grandmom.

What?? You're too young! Congratulations, but what a scare everyone had, however I'm happy to hear that both are doing well. 3.4lbs is tiny, but he's well on his way to a normal weight. Our son was a 6.10 oz preemie and he was the big one in the NICU with others who weighed as little as 1.75lbs. Thank goodness Kaiden was born now, modern medicine can do it all for preemies!

Congratulations! In a few months you'll look back at pictures and be amazed at how small he used to be. Hugs all around.

Also had a teeney preemie~they grow fast :) Modern medicine is so much better today. Breathing on his own is huge!! Are they in the same hospital?

They are in the same hospital. Denise wants to hold and cuddle him so badly, but realizes they need to get him completely stabilized first. His health is the most important thing right now.
I will post pictures when he is better. Right now his pictures all all with tubes running all over the place.

Mama is still in the hospital. They are having trouble getting her blood pressure down. She will probably still be there until Sunday at least they said.
Baby is off the tubes and breathing on his own now. He is just so tiny!

I came hoping for photos! I'm happy to hear tiny one is doing well.

Hooray! I'm glad to hear he's breathing on his own. I hope Denise is stabilized and released soon! How many weeks early is he--8??

I'm just checking for updated news too, so I'm glad to hear the little one is breathing on his own. I was a preemie too, weighed under 5 pounds, I was about a month early and look at me now.

I hope Denise gets stable quickly and can go home and be with her little guy soon.

Denise is STILL in the hospital. They finally starting a "mixed bag" of several BP drugs, and that is helping some. But she is raring to get home and get things ready for the new little one for when he is released. Maybe a couple weeks for him, although he has now gained 7 oz.

Wow, 7 ounces in 7 days? Hooray for the little guy!

I'm still thinking positive thoughts and saying prayers for both of them...

Sherry, I am so embarrassed. I thought I posted here congratulating you & asking about Kaiden not once but TWICE. Today, reading thru for news I see that I have not posted a darn thing! Guess I've just been more scatter-brained than normal since the flood.

Anyway, it sounds like Kaiden is growing very well. A little concerned about Denise...hope that BP behaves & the "cocktail" helps. Hopefully, she's home by now.

Congratulations! I'm very nostalgic these days with life's cycles. A great-grandma...very cool.

Denise has come home! Yippee! I was so worried about her. We are going down to Indianapolis first of May. Hopefully little Kaiden (Beans is what we DH and I call him)will be home by then.I can't wait to see my sweetie Denise and our new little baby.

"Beans". LOL We used to call Makayla "Beanie" because of a Sesame Street song. I don't remember all of it, but it had:

"I'm just a little human bean, I'm just a little human bean. I'm not a kidney bean, a navy bean or green, I'm just a little human bean."

Bud still calls her "Beanie".

So, I hope your little human "Bean" grows like a weed and becomes a big runner bean! I'll keep thinking good strong thoughts for both of them.

We call him "Beans" because once when Denise had her doctor visit, he told here that the baby was the size of a lima bean. Hence "Beans." Denise's last name is Baxter, and Beans Baxter just sounded so good. Then in December Denise told us she was going to go in and find out if the baby was a girl or boy, so DH said, "Oh, you mean you'll find out if it's Beans or Beans and Wiener?"
Poor kid will probably always be "Beans" to us.

Sherry, every now and then Roger just surprises us, doesn't he? LOL Sort of like the "beaver flicks". (grin)

He is perfect- preemies are so sweet - well all babies are, but preemies are special in my heart. You can't tell how teeny he is - he is an angel. They told us that preemies grow when they sleep. What a precious picture.
How early was he born?

magothy, Beans was born 6 weeks early.

Sherry, Beans looks like an angel baby, sleeping on one hand, with the other tucked under his chin. Preemies always look like old souls to me, until they grow into their skin. Spoil him rotten!

Oh Sherry, I'm so glad I checked back. What a sweet, sweet picture. I hope you will keep us up to date on Beans progress.
