Hey Dish Mavens!

I had a nice little score today at the local thrift store. I picked up a set of 8 dinner and 8 salad plates along with a creamer and sugar in the Dansk Craftmark Grass (green) pattern. I am so excited because it is EXACTLY the shade of green I was looking for to serve Easter dinner. And all for $10.00!

I have lots of white serving pieces, so I can certainly do green and white, but what other suggestions do you have for me to introduce more color? My linens are that same green with a creamy white floral.

I'm a single person and the dishwasher came with the house. I use it when I have a large load but not for daily use. I use just enough dishes for the two meals I usually eat at home per day, so I put my evening dishes in the sink and wash them in the morning with my breakfast dishes which I put in the dishwasher to dry. After I rinse one dish, I hold it over the sink to allow it to drip dry for a moment while I rinse the next with my other hand. When I'm done washing them all, I push the rack in and tilt the door halfway to allow the remaining drip water that has accumulated on the door to pool at the bottom of the door without letting it drain into the dishwasher (which is very bad over time for the dishwasher as that will rust out the bottom). There's not much water on the door because of my drip dray method. I sponge up the remaining water, maybe a couple of spoonfuls, and close the door about 80% so that air will circulate. EasyPeasy. The next meal I just use the dishes in the dishwasher without ever having to put them away. I'm building a camper van rv right now and I have the dish rack from an old dishwasher. I'm going to add a specific drawer just for this rack so that I can use it basically as I do at home. Figure it will be a fine way to both dry and store the primary dishes I use. I was searching the internet to see if any others had done a similar thing when I found this discussion. Thought I'd chime in.

lpinkmountain, that's exactly how I felt when I saw this episode. Can't believe it took me so long to finally get around to it. I made mine with flat leaf parsley and it was good, but I think I would have preferred basil. Islay corbel, you know, I've never tried fresh sage. But since I love it so much in powdered form, I can only imagine how good the real deal would be. Think it's time to venture out!

Thank you Trailrunner for your sage advise! I trust your methods implicitly, as I'm sure you know your way around the kitchen much better than I do, and cleaning up is always such an important part of process. I know your kitchen doesn't just look pretty, but sees alot of action, as I've seen the culinary creations you've turned out! You're right though, I plan to follow your suggestion of cleaning up spatters when they're fresh (so much easier), and will try those products you mentioned. MileHighDiva and cloud_swift- Just trying to keep the repairman away...and maybe will try the self-clean feature every once in awhile, but will try to avoid if I can, since I know how hot it gets during the cleaning cycle when I'd use it on my old Kitchenaid range. And yes, those french doors are really neat. I saw them on an episode of "Little People" when Jen and Bill were picking out the aplliances for their new home, but even for an average size person they make alot of sense. circuspeanut...my luck, I'd cut myself with the razorblade. Yes, the interior is dark-speckled enamel, but probably not the heavy-duty, high quality of your vintage range! They don't make anything to last anymore... PS I'm saving these tips by writing out and placing safely inside my copy of "Hints from Heloise", I inherited from my dear mother. Thank you all.

I googled sausage apple pie stuffing and every recipe was about the same. All call for the 14-1/2 oz. size broth. It doesn't sound like enough for me either, but I couldn't find one that calls for more. Let us know how it turns out. I've never made stuffing with sausage but it sounds good. Can you eat it as a main dish or do you usually have another meat with it?

Okay - the F&F bunnies are too darn cute I will definitely put them on watch, and I like the pink goblets, but dont oyu think they are a little "frilly" to use with the Dansk plates which are pretty rustic/stoneware looking? Not that I want stoneware tankards to put with them, just considering.....

That was a great score! We used to have a Dansk Outlet here in Southampton..I miss it! Great deals..
But not as good as what you got..
Lavender looks good with that, and Eastery..so many colors you can use!

Linda The Enabler - I found these on Ebay and I like the pattern, so I am watching them. I think the Swirl is kind of neat :-) And I like both lavender and blue so I will be searching for complimentary pieces. Thanks so much for all the advice!

OOH! I like them too! Is that your high bid? if not why not? That's a pattern you can add to and have not only glasses but plates and little bowls etc.
Think of how pretty the plates would look with your Easter dessert on them?
Only 20 bucks for 6? what a deal!!
