Lou,

We all have had dear ones departing us. In my own personal experience, there seems to be only two ways to deal with the unending trauma; to keep very busy and to talk to someone when it gets difficult.

Knowing you, so talented, passionate and so generous, I can see that your son must have been a very special person also. If you feel like it, do tell us about him.

Has the service taken place yet? I don't mean to be too personal, again, if you feel like it, give me the exact address and the time of the service, I would like to turn on Google Satellite View and zoom in to attend the service remotely. It would help me to focus my prayers better.

Take good care of yourself.

Sorry , I didn't see you post until now.
Went to the Funeral Director today to pickup the Death Notices and ashes.
I will have a burial at some point later, in Delaware County, Pa. ( near Phila. )
His ashes will be buried with my wife.

We are having a Memorial Service in our Clubhouse, at Holiday Pocono Civic Association,
on the 21st, from 1pm to 3pm.
It is in Albrightsville, Pa.on Rt. 534 near Rt. 903.
That's why I moved here, we are all bright.

The Pastor and some of his friends; from my wifes Bible Study Group, will speak.

He went with them often, to visit Nursing Homes.
I also went a few times.
He had a knack for cheering up the older folks.

I was the cook for the Bible Study Group. It was held in my home.

I think Steve was here, more than his Apt. He helped me with odds and ends.
We were always doing something outdoors.

He thought I was a nut, for feeding the Deer and petting them and all the other animals.

He worked with a Maintenance Crew, at an Old Age home in Phila. until he fell from a ladder and injured his back.

Did nice Leatherwork and Leathercarving and was good at artwork.

When his mother passed away, it was very depressing for him but like you said, Keep busy!!!

Now, I'll have to take one of the young guys under wing to help me with the yard work.

Hope this helps a little, with what you wantesd to know.

Seil I use Facebook a lot, but I think there could be better pages/groups for rose lovers. There was a really neat one for antique roses which seems to have disappeared.... However, I do have a suggestion. Might the admins at HMF create a Help Me Find Roses page (or group) on Facebook? We could get together there on FB. I find it is much easier and quicker to post pictures on Facebook than here. I find that HMF is pretty indispensible--I'm hooked!!! My garden is called Tessie's garden, and for those of you who don't know, Tessie isn't me. She was one of my dogs. She liked gardening, in her own way, mainly by digging and chewing, but I loved her in spite of her quirks. My garden has 4 new additions which arrived in the mail from Pickering late yesterday. I'm about to go outside and plant them. Yep, they are already listed on HMF (R. primula, William's Double Yellow, Rene D'Anjou, and Soupert et Notting)--changing the date is still awkward and I can't find a way to make it appear at the top of my "Plants Grown" page like others have done. oak tree disease?

Natives & veggies, I heard of the oak disease attacking the oak trees out west a while back and I've started to intersperse maple trees here and there on my property so if the oak fungus hits here I will still have some majestic looking trees left. I've had a few oaks drop leaves, dry up and come crashing down... but I'm not sure if it was the disease or lightning causing it. I get some hellish lightning on my little hill that has set trees ablaze but the downpour has put the fires out most times. Each year I buy a few maple trees 6 - 12 inch starts and grow them in pots until they are 10 - 12 feet tall then transplant them out. There are a few maples that are native to Florida so I buy those starts. I've also planted a few sycamore trees and some other trees. I've had to run a few hundred feet of garden hose set on timers to keep them watered until established so thats why I set out only a few each year. The well is located around 1,200 feet away from the furthest corner of my lot so it takes a lot of garden hose to reach. When I lived up north we lost all our elm trees to the dutch elm disease so I know the pain of losing beautiful huge trees. Lou

Question about coffee

Michael, I go there too, when I must, but most of my mornings start with a pot of freshly ground Paramount brand Kona in my french press, followed by a pot of the same stuff at work in a drip coffee maker because that's what I have available. I drink one half packet of artificial sweetener in my coffee, although I will plead guilty to an occasional cup of caramel mocha. I don't really consider that coffee, LOL, it's more of a hot milkshake. The coffee doesn't make a huge difference with all that milk and sugar and chocolate, so I can drink the McDonald's stuff and it's fine. There have been exactly two cups of coffee I've had in my life that I could drink black. One was the special stuff that Renee sent me while she still owned Big Valley Coffee, I don't even remember the name but she told me that it was expensive enough that she only got it on Christmas and Father's Day because no one would spend the money any other time of year. The other was a coffee called Terrazu from Costa Rica, it actually tasted vaguely like chocolate, but not sweet. Everything else gets that half package of artificial sweetener..... Annie

Sounds like she's really small -- in that case, if you still want to consider a harness, look in the cat-gear department. Really! They make harnesses for cats, too, and that would be a better fit. (I can't tell you how hard I laughed when I first saw a cat being walked in a harness...) Congrats on your "official" dog now. I can't imagine how that dog would've ended up on the loose when you found her. Maybe it got away from its owners who were traveling through the area (but why they wouldn't contact all the vets within a 100 miles -- as I would've done -- is beyond me). Or maybe they just couldn't afford to keep her anymore (but if I were in that situation, I would so want to make sure she went to a good home). Regardless, you all seem to be fitting in well with each other. Many happy walks together!

Lou, you are a piece of work, making wisecracks even during this very difficult time. Thank you for telling us about Steve. He sounds like pretty special guy.

Another good friend lost her son in the past week. I have two sons and I can;t even imagine it. I'm thinking about you.

God bless you, Lou. I hope it's a comfort knowing a lot of us on the forums will be with you in spirit. I lost a grandson just a few years ago and I can appreciate how difficult this is.

Lou, we're with you in spirit my friend. Today has to be a difficult day to say the least. Remember to take care of yourself and let others take care of you to. I know you pride yourself on your inner strength and that is admirable but lean on some friends and family today.

Hello Everyone:
Sorry I didnÂt get back to you sooner.
I have just finished saying goodbyeÂs to my Sister and BIL,
who are leaving for their return to Fla. and
to others who have traveled far.

I appreciated all the thoughts and Prayers you have sent.

The Memorial Service went very well.

A Pastor friend spoke about Steve and
the times he helped with the Ministry; to the older folks, at a Home.
He remarked how Steve had a way of cheering them up.

Many of SteveÂs friends from Delaware County ( outside of Phila .)
came up to the Service.
Some spoke about their younger days, from HS , until later years.

Everyone came to my house after the Service. I had all kinds of food for them.
Nothing new, everyone always wound up there anyway.

I made it thru the weekend with all of your help. Thanks Again !!!
