Yesterday was a long, long day. Started out, I couldn't get to sleep until 3 in the morning. A close friends lost her battle with breast cancer at age 35 after 3 years of fighting. She leaves behind her husband and 4 little ones. It hits so close to home with us being the same age and the same number of kids. So planned on stopping by the house and then visitation.....until Dan came down not feeling well. He tried a couple of things but then had chest pains. Dialed 911 and waited for ambulance, luckily it was his gallbladder so spent the day in the hospital and then transfered him an hour away to have surgery today. Did get to stop by the visitation for a few minutes and got together with friends.

Could use prayers for the family of Matt and Heather as they try and go on and let go. It has been tough the last 3 years she has battled but is at peace. Also prayers for DH as he has surgery today and hope that they won't have to do a larger surgery.

OMG that is so very very sad such a young woman I hate to hear this especially for those 4 babies. My darling husbands mom died at 29 years ol from Colon Cancer left behing a 8 & 4 yr old and a 29 yr old hubby (my FIL) who was devastated and till this day the little boy and man in my DH misses her desperatly.. My thoughts and prayers are with you & yours..Hope your DH is well!

I am keeping Kate and family in my thoughts for a successful procedure and improvement. I'm pleased to hear about the Mars Family picking up the tab. Their charitable foundation spreads good will to others around the world, it's nice that they're helping one of their own "family" too.

The best news,just as we all hoped! Dexascan is a piece of cake - I used to do them when I worked in the Rheumatology office. Bone-building drugs may be prescribed, but they work slowly, so 6 weeks one way or the other won't make a huge difference. There are lots of reasons you can have osteopenia or osteoporosis - drug therapies, both chemo and steroids, being too thin (being under 127 pounds is a marker for risk), family history, early menopause, low calcium and Vitamin D, and the list goes on. For now, take care of yourself, be a good girl and do what the docs tell you to do. We'll all be here, thinking of you and cheering you on until those crutches are tucked away in the closet.

Wow Ivette - $4K! That's outstanding! How can you call yourself 'a mess' when you've done that? What's the cause? And taxes?... Celtic, how can you call yourself a procrastinator when you've got them done? I haven't even started yet! I positively *hate* doing taxes. An update on the school 'thing' -- I talked with the director of our private school, and she pretty much nixed the low-functioning class as too low, and the high-functioning class as already full. She said she'd look into the various class mixes, but I didn't hear much hope. I've started the process toward public school enrollment, and brought DS by the school yesterday when I dropped off his information. He got to meet the diagnostician and the principal, and was thoroughly charming, shaking hands, saying "nice to meet you Mrs. ___" and remembering names. It'll be interesting to see what kind of placement they propose for him. It could be a great opportunity for him - being around more typically-developing children in a typical classroom for the first time ever. But it will also be a challenge to his self-esteem, and if we go that route, he will be forced to confront his differences. Scary all around. Is everyone still here? KitchencrazyChris? Starpooh?
