| How many are digging themselves out from under a pile of snow today?
Went to bed last night thinking we got missed by the huge storm that dropped over a foot of snow on the Twin Cities yesterday, but woke up this morning to 8 inches of fresh stuff! And it's still coming down and the wind is fierce, making for some spectacular drifts!
Had a lot of cancels and no-shows at the clinic today.
My dog wouldn't even leave the porch this morning! LOL
Thank goodness for 4WD!

It's doing a little flurry-ing right now.....but.... The serious problem is 75 miles north of here, flooding from the warm weather over the weekend and the ice jams in the river. |

I've had my fill of snow for the season. I saw y'all were getting another storm Linda. Talked to family yesterday while it was in it's prime. Think y'all are going to break some records for this seasons snow fall totals like so many across the nation. What scares me is the spring melt....the weather service is already predicting record flooding from the Dakotas through MN, IA, all the way down to St.Louis. Not to forget the NE part of the country. I really hope it's not a repeat of what has happened in the past. OY! David

Another 8" here in NYC. It will be a bad gardening year for areas covered with snow this winter. Snow is a good insulator. The ground will stay at about 32 degrees F, may not be cold enough to kill critters, insects, and germs. dcarch
RE: Let's see a show of hands....

Wow Dcarch that's a surprise to me, I haven't seen the tv news yet! Just a little dust here in central Jersey!
RE: Let's see a show of hands....

I've got about 5" here in Northern Baltimore County. The snow from the last storm was just about gone from the yard. Sigh........... Thankfully, I'm heading to Texas Saturday, should be warmer. If not the weather, at least the smiles of the grandchildren will warm my soul.

We had about three inches overnight. No biggie, even the schools opened on time. Still, we had been down to just a few piles of "snirt" here and there, so the sight of more snow in any amount is not welcome. I have to go clear a path for the plumber to arrive in another hour. Sigh. I'm tempted to just leave it there to be cleared by the warmer weather later this week. I already have some bulbs popping up that I discovered when the last snowfall melted. Little optimists!

I feel so sorry for you guys. When it snows here its rare enough it's exciting. I've already almost forgotten our snow and have moved on to Spring, but I know we'll have another freeze before it's all over with. Dcarch, this is about the only time of year I can enjoy being outside without getting chewed by something or other. In Texas, you just have to deal with insects. Sally

We were supposed to get ice and possibly 3-4" after everything melted last week. No ice ...thank goodness...but we got about 12"!!! This after all the hype from the last Snowmaggedan(sp) that fizzled. With 6 dogs here and 6 more arriving tomorrow ....I like the snow! Sure beats mud! Not fun to drive in...but nice to see the dogs romping and playing in the snow...then they konk out at night and let me sleep. Duane
RE: Let's see a show of hands....

Finally stopped overnight, but not until we saw an additional 3-4". Hard to tell exactly how much snow we got because of all the blowing and drifting, but it looks like close to a foot. Hard to believe last week it was in the low 50's and melting nicely! Oh well....just a few more weeks until spring! Linda

This latest storm missed me...by just a few miles. I have patches of grass in the yard, snow and ice completly gone from the roof and the driveway is also free of snow and ice. I'm very happy! Nancy

Linda, It's--well never mind what the temp is here. Maybe your mom will reconsider the trip down. I really feel for you all with the extended winter as it is.

I was all set to gloat about our mild Central Coast weather, but YIKES, the forecast for Thursday and Friday is for an arctic air mass moving in and the *********possibility******** of SNOW (YIKES) in the San Francisco Bay Area down to 1000 feet in the hills. Another forecaster says 500 feet. Someone else stuck his neck out and said **gulp** sea-level. So we may have snow at the top of the Golden Gate Bridge towers or the Transamerica Building. Or even down here at 330 foot elevation where we are. Wish us luck, we haven't seen such a thing since 1976!
RE: Let's see a show of hands....

Helene, yoou will forgive me if I giggle, won't you? LOL Seriously, I hope it misses you! I know you all are not equipped with snow removal parphernalia! Fortunately if you do get snow it will probably melt as it hits the ground. Keep us posted! Linda
RE: Let's see a show of hands....

Snow? in San Fransisco? Wow. Sally
RE: Let's see a show of hands....

Snow removal is Mother Nature's job. Chances are greatest that it won't stick at all. If it does, it would be a scant 1/2" judging from past experiences. Ma Nature will then take care of it the next day with a little sunshine. If it gets any worse than that... no, can't even conceive of it!

Wow, snow in San Francisco. Yes, we got another 10 inches here Sunday night, it blew around and caused enough problems with visibility that we had a 60 car pileup on 131 just east of me. Better than Elery got, they got about 3 inches of snow, then some ice, then some more snow. I don't like ice, and several hundred thousand people were without power, many in Kalamazoo where lakemayor is from (although she's in Florida right now). More cold, wind and snow on Friday and Saturday. Ah well, it's Michigan and it's February. I had Monday off and was supposed to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese and Amanda to the bridal shop to get measured for her bridesmaid dress. Now we're doing that on Saturday, depending on the weather. Annie

It's snowing again here. It looks light and fluffy though. Multiple trips around the driveway with a push broom or a lightweight plastic shovel should do the trick and be my aerobic exercise for the day.

They were predicting snow down to 500 ft. elevation in the LA area this weekend. We got cold, dreary rain, but no snow. Bright and sunny this morning, but with the clouds on the horizon, it could change quickly. Ann

It's bright and sunny here this morning! Went out to get the paper and the birds were singing, daffodils blooming, spring is definitely in the air, although the temp is in the mid thirties. Just noticed yesterday that daylight savings time starts in 2 weeks. Hmmm, not quite ready for that, yet. jude

It did snow in San Francisco yesterday! And we just had some flurries this afternoon. I'd say that there were about 10 non-sticking flakes per minute, for all of 10 or 15 minutes. That was about an hour ago. Sun's back out again now. ;-)
