I just opened the Angel Food Cake and there was those darn linky lines..

I opted out last week...

Why are you so focused on a coldframe -- on the north side of the house? I doubt it will get enough sun to be productive. Personally, I would forgo the season extension methods until after you get the swing of the local seasons. It's too late in the year to get anything started for winter except garlic, but many things do fine outdoors in the winter here without protection provided you start them early enough in the fall to reach most of their growth. Cabbage, kohlrabi, collards, spinach and so forth. With very few exceptions, I direct seed almost everything. I have very little luck with cool weather crops in the spring here -- it just gets too hot too fast -- but peas, radishes, lettuce and other quick varieties will make it before the heat does. I direct seed cabbage and cauliflower in late Jan (and they don't always make it), lettuce in early Feb and other spring crops like peas, radishes, mustard, Irish potatoes, beets and turnips about Valentine's Day. Summer crops go in about Easter; fall crops in July and winter crops in August, then back around to garlic in mid to late October. I suggest you wander over to the ACES web site and indulge your inner elephant's child. They have garden calendars, notes of successful local methods and much more. At this point in the season, if I were you I would: - Focus on building compost bins and collecting composting material. There's nothing wrong with a plain old compost pile; no bin necessary. - Work on other infrastructure, like fencing, sheds and raised beds if you are going to use them. - A drip irrigation system is a big help here; you may want to plan for that. - How are you going to preserve your bounty next year? If you have plans for canning, drying, etc., get yourself organized and prepared while it's the off season with drying racks and such. Root cellars don't really work very well here but finding the cool spots in or under your house will help some for potatoes and such. - Frankly, I'd till up your garden spot now to help kill weed seeds and roots, and rake the grass up and either compost it or burn/trash it. If you have bermuda or a similar grass thug, don't try to compost it! Even if you plan to be no-till in general, it will help get your spot started. One last thought on homemade seed containers: Like I said, I don't start much indoors now -- more effort than it's worth -- but when I do I use either old nursery pots so that I don't have to transplant them into another pot before they go in the ground, or I have some love wooden seed flats that work better than anything else for a nice mix of moisture retention vs. too wet. I used to make newspaper pots, but I found the plants developed healthier root system when I took the paper off before planting -- the paper didn't biodegrade quite as fast as the plants need root space.

Oh my! I do hope you will be okay...my fingers are crossed. A number of years ago (and I am talking quite SOME time ago!), my Shih Tzu Britanny (yep, we're talking BT as in Before Tifanny!) had a tick. I got a phone call from my groomer who was quite hysterical. "Sherry, just WHERE did you take this precious baby?!" "Huh?" "Britanny had a TICK! I pulled a good chunk of her HAIR off along with it!" "What?! A tick?! I haven't taken her ANYWHERE! Let me call Bill..." ring-a-ding-a-ling "Sweetie? I just got this phone call. Did you take Britanny anywhere for a walk? Someplace unusual?" "We went looking for rabbits." "Rabbits? Where in the heck were you guys looking for rabbits?" "Oh, you know, the Back Bay. Why?" "WELL, I don't know why you were looking for rabbits..." "You know how she likes taking a walk in the Back Bay..." "Yeah, but, RABBITS?" "This bunny hopped by so we thought we'd go check it out." "hmmm...well, I just got a call and am now on my way to go take Brit to the VET'S!!! She got a TICK and I don't even want to tell you just how hysterical the groomer is right now." Needless to say, Britanny was fine. The tick went with me to the veterinarian's, and was promptly identified as a Brown Dog Tick. I still have the tick in a plastic baggy in my freezer. And, as an FYI...Britanny crossed the bridge, oh, over 13 years ago or so... Bill will never live down the tick. Tricia It was my understanding the opt out stops anyone from taking a look see at your credit to know how much credit they will offer when sending a credit card offer?? As far as anyone you already have a relationship with I just called the few we got and ask to be put on their opt out list. I even opted out of our own bank, credit union and savings institutions. The only thing I get is statements and notices when a CD is coming due. We didnt get any junk mail for years until a few months ago. I will be turning 65 this year and am now getting 8 to10 offers a week from every insurance company in the world. At first I was calling and asking them to please take me off the mailing list but now have just given up and shred everything. I would like to know how I got on these lists but havent found an answer yet. SS and Medicare both say they do not share any information. I am even getting this junk addressed to me at my dads address. Very frustrating for him. We dont have home mail delivery so even my post master if upset that he cant get all my mail in my P.O. Box. I told him to just send it back but of course he cant. As far a credit scores I will never understand how that works. About 12 or so years ago our accountant ask me how many credit card I had in my wallet. We got to figuring it out and came up with an obscene amount of available credit. I had cards for way to many department stores that I never used. I had had them for years so the limits were high. I closed everything but the one credit card that was tied to our checking account and the debit card for the same account. I had our bank set out credit limit at ten thousand so it never goes any higher. I pay it off every month. I also had them set the limit on our debit card higher so each of us has a thousand dollar a day limit. When DH ordered me a new car a few years ago he was told we have the highest credit score the dealership had ever seen and mine was 2 points higher that his. I havent worked in over 20 years so how does that happen? I check our accounts every morning as soon as I get on the computer and pay the credit card from the checking account as soon as the cycle ends. We have one of those very old gold accounts so we dont have any fees or pay for anything including cashiers check and travelers checks. The manager at the bank told me to never close it. I pay all our bills on line and never have had a problem. So my next question is should I keep the checking account statements or just shred them? Claudia

ya_think i read some of your posts on that other thread ...way to funny. tntw did you check into American Range? try dvorson's restaurant equipment thats where i got my best price. although i went with the 48". we cook for 3 but on holidays it's more like up to 20. it works great. great for making lots of cookes or cupcakes for school. cut DW cooking time in half for parties and holidays. she sometimes caters professionally. great range, looks great, great customer service! not all the bells & whistles to break down. john

Apparently, Bing is part of Vibrant in-text somehow. There look to be three or four companies offering this "service".
I can't imagine anyone actually likes or uses it, but I guess someone must or it wouldn't be worth their while to offer it.
I think I've figured out how to get rid of Bing/Vibrant on any website -- at least in IE.

In the browser menu, go to Tools
Select Internet Options
Select the Security Tab
Select Restricted Sites
Click on "Sites" button
Enter everything after this colon: *.us.intellitxt.com

I haven't seen any since I did it, so I have my fingers crossed.

For anyone using Opera..

Tools --> Advanced --> Blocked Content from the top menu bar. To block ads from Vibrant (the video ads that pop up when you mouse over a double-underlined word), add http://*.*.intellitxt.com/* to the Blocked Content editing box.

Okay, I cleared out my cookies, which also signed me out of GW. I immediately saw the hot links. They were on random words like Food, Save and Mother. When I hovered over them I saw an ad for baby diapers, which is a big waste for someone my age -- maybe D-epends, but not baby diapers.

Then when I signed in here, the links disappeared.

I didn't have any trouble on the Angel Food Cake thread but when I came here there was one of the dreaded links on Terri's word "Cake". I followed BTDT's instructions & the link has disappeared.

I have Firefox and I "opted out" and I'm seeing them too. Not on every thread, but some really strange words - like "oven" and "mother" are double underlined. Go figure.

DS#2 thinks it might be related to GW 'Seniority'. I've been around since 1999, I think.

I opted out and it's still there. Using Firefox. Downloaded the adblock and it still shows up.

Opted out on IE and dont see it. So I'll be using the IE instead of firefox.

This kind of stuff annoys me. Here we just got thru the posts disappearing and then not being able to do a search and now they do this.

Have any of you ever clocked on a popup ad or this sort of thing? There has to be a reason they think it generates ad income, but I don't know anyone who's ever said, "OH, that looks interesting, I want to look at that link!"

I saw them at work, opted out and haven't had them return.
I did notice that if you delete cookies on your computer, they will come back. You may want to check to see how often your cookies are deleted.

Personally, I try to delete mine while they're still warm from the oven but...................unrelated to intellitext!!!

I had it blocked using the link GardenWeb provided at the top of the page but when I ran my usual security scan and restarted my computer, I started seeing those darned intellitext highlights again.

I have a feeling some security programs/anti-virus delete the cookie. I went into tools and added intellitext.com as a blocked site. If that doesn't work I'll go into my Norton program and Ad-Aware, whatever else might apply, and block from there.
