Seems there is too much sadness on this side of the forum lately. I have added all to my prayers, but I would like you to add our three year old grandson Boston to your thoughts and prayers.

Boston was diagnosed on October 19 th with a pontine glioma, an inoperable brain tumor. He has had radiation and chemo since. His last radiation treatment was on December 27th. He will follow up with a year of
bi-monthly chemo treatments for the next year.

We will not know if the treatments had any effect until they do the next MRI at the end of the month.

Luckily our small community is very supportive, we are blessed.

He is the sweetest little boy, this is him after one of his treatments.

He is the light of our our lives.

How awful. I will include Boston in my prayers.
I would note, Buzz Lightyear should not be tucked into the seatbelt. It will render the seatbelt less effective if, God forbid, it should be needed in the event of an accident, and could actually injure Boston.

Dear Di, I am so sorry to learn of more sadness. I will add darling Boston to the prayers I send by the minute. My heart aches for you as I fully understand the feeling of absolute helplessness being a bystander watching our grandchildren suffer. I believe in angels and miracles and certainly hope both you and I witness one. Bless you. Mary

This thread is 9 years old, and some things have changed. I rarely buy at Weston any more, but they are a distance from me and I would usually go there for their trees and shrubs which I haven't planted many of in recent years. They are very expensive, but if I needed a tree, I'd probably wait for a good sale. I might be looking for a Rhododendron soon and I'd go there, it is their specialty. I've become more likely to go to Russell's for everything I need, because they have everything and they do organic and offer organic seedlings in the spring and organic supplies. Not everyone does. Their perennial section is extensive and well organized. I find trees and shrubs a small selection. Annuals - I don't buy many of, and theirs are expensive. I buy bagged goods there all the time. Mahoney's seems to have improved but I still find the only thing I've gone there for is their bagged mulch. And I'm thinking of switching to Russell's because it's just as good and less expensive. Mahoney's seems to have upgraded their florist section and offer what looks like very pretty arrangements, but I haven't bought any so I can't say if you get what you order. And I haven't bought from them because they upgraded their prices and priced me out. I am disappointed with McCue's. They are a good family run business, and I still stop in there, but I find I am buying less and less. They don't carry organic products. Not even Coast of Maine Compost. I did buy potted bulbs and pansies this spring, but I have resolved not to buy their pansies again, because the 6 pack they use attaches all the cells at the top inch so I have to rip them all apart and they are nothing but roots. Garden in the Woods - I haven't bought anything there in awhile, but my past experiences were very positive. I haven't been to Wilson's in a long time because they expanded their food to go department at the expense of their nursery. I had the same experience at Stonegate with the potted trees. I bought one on sale that was so potbound, it didn't make it. They refunded part of my money. That was my last purchase there.

Visited the prettiest bookstore in Boston!

We visited ithe little bookstore about 3 weeks ago and walked right in and broused around, but a friend of mine try to visit on a Saturday and the line was around the block sadly she couldnt wait. It is totaly charming we didn’t stay to eat, but aromas coming from the cafe were unbelievable .

Backstory: according to Capote’s autobiography, he despised Hepburn in the film, even said that it made him sick to watch it. As much as I love Audrey Hepburn, I’ve always thought that her inclusion in this film was sort of jarring since I read the book before seeing it. That was quite a few years after it came out when I first read the book and watched the movie. Rooney was chosen for comedic effect and all parties seemed happy with the results, at first. That choice ended up being enormously regretted by everyone….including Mickey himself.

Di, you know that Boston has been and continues to be in my prayers.

What a handsome boy, I do hope that the treatments will do what they are expected to do and that he can tolerate them well, poor little guy.

How do you deal with this???? I'm sorry, I just can't imagine having to see your precious Boston go through this. Maybe Buzz is there to help ZAP the tumor. GO BUZZ, do your stuff.

Di, I remember that Boston was born around the same time as my granddaughter. I'm so sorry to hear this news. He is adorable.

I can see why he is the light of your lives. He is adorable. I love his chubby cheeks. Life is just so unfair. I too will pray for the best possible outcome for Boston. Miracles happen every day. Hugs to you, Di.

Colleen, you are right Buzz should not be in the car seat straps with Boston. But as you can see he has a smile on his face, and I love that. I appreciate your concern.

Mary, Rhana continues to be in my prayers. Please keep us updated. I too believe in miracles and hope we are both blessed with one! Boston has a similar web site, people are so kind!

Annie...I know, and thank you! Yes Buzz has been an important part of Boston's treatment. That's what the doctors and nurses called the radiation mask that was used to hold Boston perfectly still during treatments.

Karen, not very well! Yesterday I had a complete meltdown. After two months, you would think I would have a better handle on my emotions. It comes and goes, luckily Ron and I seem to have those feelings on opposite days, so we can comfort each other. The real hero's are Ashley and Joe. For a couple in their twenties they are amazingly strong and keeping it together...I guess they have no choice, but it is still heartening to see them so strong and proactive!

Ann t thank you, He is a handsome fellow! You might like to know that he has his own cooking center at our house. Also a three step ladder so he can reach the counters and help Mimi in the kitchen.

Christine, I remember! We are grandmas together. Give her extra hugs and kisses!

Oh...what a sweet little face! Life is certainly not fair!

Sending lots of healing and strengthening thoughts to you and your family. Praying for a quick recovery and that the tumor vanishes and never returns!

So sorry to hear about your dear grandson, and I will add him to my prayers as well. I agree that it has gotten a bit sad on this sad, but the good thing is that people here are extremely supportive in spite of it, and you can count on good energy coming your way from expressing your feelings and needs here.

I hope Boston's treatments will be successful so that he can live the normal life that he deserves.

I have good news!

Boss had his MRI on Monday. Compared to the MRI taken in October the tumor has decreased by 1/3 and the nodules that were bright in October are almost invisible now! He still has a long way to go, but is definitely heading in the right direction!

Tuesday he had his first chemo treatment of 2013. It doesn't seem to have any adverse effect on him and he wanted to go to Kroger later in the evening. He takes after Mimi and his mother! Lol

Today was his first day back to pre-school We are so proud of him and how well he has coped with all the medical issues he has had to deal with.

I am one happy Mimi right now.
