can't get out of check disk utility

Posted by susie100 (My Page) on

Ran check disk on my PC for a corrupted file; it has stalled at 43% completion (for two days). I can't click on anything, can't get to the start icon, don't have mouse control. Have turned computer on/off several times. Using laptop right now. Is there anything I can do? Thank you.

As a last resort either hold the on/off button down for at least 4 seconds or remove the power cord and battery for a minute or two.

Control key plus C at same time maybe

Break key might work too there
also the Escape key.

Control+C I thought was copy.

Try it on a tracert or something in a cmd window.
It may need several taps to work ... but it breaks the process or aborts the running command.
