If you have a new computer and havent installed the CD setup disk and programs that came with the printer... windows would only install the basic print driver for it so it would work just for basic printing. Untill you either install the CD that came with the printer originally, or download and install its possably updated install program from dell.

From what I saw that printer has a poor history. And the error appears to indicate a color cartridge problem. some folks have replaced the color cartridge and resolved the error, for others it has not resolved the error, so I could not recommend buying a cartridge and saying that would take care of it based on my search results, I can say this when purchasing a printer I stay with companies in the printer business like, HP, Cannon, brother, because of the amount of printing I do per day I had to get away from cartridge type because of the expense, and have moved to a Brother Printer - Laser jet\drum type.
