Flash Player Update problem

Several sites tell me that I need to update my Flash Player, but when I try it never completes the installation.
The last time I tried a week ago I got a mess of files that I had to delete that tried to take over my computer. I tried again to update this a.m. and could only get so far.
I am guessing my security is blocking the update but I have tried and cannot see how I can make an exception to allow the update?
I use IE with whatever the latest updates & Windows 7 and I use Avast for security which was recommended here a few years ago.
Any suggestions will definitely be appreciated!

That used to happen to me and I read somewhere it is a false update and FF had something to do with it. I still get it when I watch a u tube. It tells me I need flash player to watch it and in spite of the warning it still plays.

Since posting my question for help I have tried once again to download it and it shows in my files that I have the update, but I am still not able to view anything that needs the updated flash player-very frustrating.

Iris Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228 is the latest version. If you right click on the black are where the video would normally show you will get a pop up showing which version you have. I realise you stated you had the most recent version in your original post. This is the update site for Adobe Flash if you are not up to date. BE SURE to remove the check mark where it suggests installing McAfee too - unless you want McAfeee of course. Are you able to view the nests on the CBC site? Again this morning I too am only getting a black screen at the Hancock site.

DA, watch that thinking while eating lunch...it's bad for the digestion! However it is much appreciated. Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Have you tried FF bare boned with not add-ons to see if this occurs? Ans. Yes 2. Have you tried a prior version of FF? Ans, Yes, just a few minutes ago. I un-installed ver 11.0 and installed the older 10.0.2 in it's place. I also un-installed Flash Player and re-installed that again. ...still the same results after shutting down and re-starting! 3. The DML in in my firefox add-0ns When I go to the links that you have provided, it takes me to the very same page that installed this add-on I have Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87 And Adobe Flash player plugin 10.0.42.34 According to the Adobe page, the latest version is 10.0.45.2 I clicked on a picture to enlarge the pic on ebay and this message came up. Worked OK for me and I have version 10 Flash Player too. Try shutting down the computer and restarting. How long as this been happening? Here is a link that might be useful: Mediaface

Just to let everyone know it is fixed!
I had to go into TOOLS and disable something that was blocking the update, or it playing.
