how to watch dvd on tv from computer

I want to watch and hear DVDs from my DVD drive on my computer on the flat screen TV on the wall as it is much bigger than my monitor. It is also at a better viewing angle.

I have Win XP sp3 with an HDMI cable running from the Sony Google TV to the computer.

I just don't know how to "send" the DVD to the TV

I know of at least two ways

#1 The easy way - buy a DVD player for the TV, they're cheap these days

#2 The harder way:

(This is a swag)

a) Make sure your cable/satellite box is off. Start the Google TV and make sure the signal is on the TV (that makes sure the TV sees that HDMI input's signal)

b)Pull the HDMI cord out of the Google TV box and connect it to the PC

c)Boot the PC, see if it recognizes the TV as a display connected by the HDMI cable. If it does, you'll see your normal PC home page on the TV screen. Now play the DVD on the Computer.

d)if it doesn't, you'll need to go into control panel, display, and see if you are given a choice of displays OR if there is a Discover button to push (Sorry, I don't have an xp machine here to check with). Switch to the second display, play dvd on PC.

If this doesn't work, post back.

I'd get a TV, as most new ones today will accept a computer output. They'll have better resolution and compatibility for TV as that sounds like what you do most. Some have a USB slot and ethernet ports so you can hook up to the network. An HDMI cable will allow you get High Def content there too. You'll need a switch of some type if you want to use one DVD player on both TV's. Usually cheaper to just get a dedicated DVD player. Best to enlist a local company or someone like Geek Squad to plot out a course of action for you based on your needs a specific equipment and access to run wires.

Can you take a picture from the sliders to the wall across and plant wall towards dining? I think you should nail down the layout first. I agree with above, the first and last are too bulky and don't go in a livingroom. You have a lot of brown already, but the middle could work with a light rug, and lighter side chair/tables. The pros here can really help with layout so you don't cover windows and doors with furniture. From what I see now, the tv can go on wall with the plant with sofa facing... You have a pretty space to work with!
