iPod 4 question; "notes" crashed

I'm still using, and loving, my iPod Touch 4th Gen. I use every feature and dozens of apps daily. Oh, yes, sometimes I play music (but mostly audiobooks) on it, too. I know it's outdated now, but it works perfectly for my needs. I'm holding out for the new iPod 6, if it ever comes out.

Last night I was checking some of the entries in my "Notes," app, the one that came loaded in the iPod, and has a yellow lined "paper" icon.

One of the notes, "Dawn's Books," was duplicated. I opened one and everything was correct. I made one change and closed the app.

I opened the duplicate "Dawn's Books" and it was the same, including the change I had made on the first entry.

I deleted the duplicate. Both notes disappeared, and then the Notes app crashed.

I can open still open Notes and see about 30 of the 142 notes.

I synced the iPod to my computer, twice, but the "Notes" app still crashes it I try to scroll down past about note #30.

Do you have any idea how this can be fixed. I have not backed up my notes to the computer. :(
