| Genes: I can't answer your specific question. However I did update my Flytouch with Tims 6A and fixed the Shanghai problem by following the directions in Tim's Tips. Maybe you haven't seen that page? If you want to give the Tips method a try and need suggestions on how to turn on the GPS and find the GPS Status software, let me know. I made and kept notes. - June |

| June, thanks for the links and the suggest re: Tims6a..I understand the way of loading the update is to load the update on a micro SD card and put it in the Flytouch3 then turn the FT3 on and it loads...is there anywhere to confirm that the update loaded ie, is there a change in the version number or something like that???? Also, thanks RC for your links too At present I only have the one microSD card and dont want to delete stuff off of there..I just ordered two more from Ebay so will have them in a few days then will give it a shot... Thanks again |

| Genes: When I turn on the Flytouch (FT) and Android is loading, I briefly get a white screen on the tablet and it displays "TIM 6" in the upper left corner. If you're going to use your new micro cards in the FT, remember to format them first with SD Formatter. When many people post about FT problems with their SD card, it's because they haven't used that program on the card first. Download the program onto your computer and then extract the files onto your SD card. I understand you can also extract the file on your computer and then copy it onto the SD card. I mention these steps in connection to the FT because it's my only Android experience. Don't know if the micro cards in other tablets need the format program. - June

| I have never used that sd card format program with any of mine, and what are the reasons that you do? By the way I am typing this from my new vizio tablet!! I love it so far just got it today and have it loaded up with Apps. |
|
| Raven: I use the SD Formatter program because it's recommended in the apad forums. There are over 3000 posts in the thread on Tim's ROM and I read them all (note I said "read" not necessarily "understood"). There were repeated posts where users were having trouble and wrote they had formatted the card but with another utility. After being directed to SD Formatter and trying again, they reported success. Android is very new to me so I'm following the recommended steps to, hopefully, keep moving forward. Meanwhile, congrats on the new Vizio. |

| June, what version of SD Formatter was it>>> The 3.1?? |
|
| Here's apad's link to SD Formatter. Looks like it's 3.0 if you have Win7. Note there's a different link (just below the first) for Win XP. |

| Dont know why my update for Tim6A is not loading...Formatted my MicroSD card, downloaded the Tim6A update and unzipped the two files to my desktop...Also downloaded the installer app to my desktop and then loaded the downloader app and the two update files in the exact same order as the attached video..followed the same procedure IE inserted the MicroSD with only the 3 files into the FT3 and booted it up...I get the momentary flash of update then it commences a normal load...I dont get the (BIOS type page) indication that the update is loading etc.. |

| Genes: I watched the video and see that the two Tim 6A firmware files are in an App Installers folder. This is not how the files on my SD card are structured. These are the files on my SD card: .android_secure They are all in the root of the SD card (i.e. not in a folder). As I've mentioned previously, I'm an Android novice, so I followed the directions on the Apad forum. I DL'ed SD Formatter and Tim 6A onto the PC. Then I extracted both (SD Formatter first) onto the SD card. Since your SD card now has some files on it, I suggest you use SD Formatter again and select the Full Overwrite option; this will include erasing the files currently on the card. Then DL Tim 6A from Tim's thread (link below). Further suggestions from the gurus is to have your FT battery at least 70% charged and also plug the FT into an electric circuit before beginning the update. Then with the FT turned off, insert the prepared SD card. Turn on the FT and, hopefully, you'll see the Tim 6A DL begin. It's also been mentioned to be sure you feel the SD card "click" into place. My card seems to sit deep in the slot and I use a fingernail to push it just enough to seat it properly and hear that faint "click".

| Genes: Did you purchase the FT from the site that sponsored the video? If yes, then you may have a fake FT and that's why the update steps I followed aren't working for you. On the video sponsor's web site where you can add the FT to your cart, there is a picture of the tablet plus 3 thumbnails below. When I clicked on the first thumbnail, it showed the tablet, accessories, and the box. The printing on the side of the box is the giveaway because it reads "SuperPAD III". The original FT has "Superpad2 Flytouch3" along the side. The Apad forums have been specific about "SuperPAD III" being a clone indicator. There is a Technical Forum on the Apad site where they try to help those who have a clone. |

| Problem solved: I was waiting on my order of two new SDHC Micro cards I had ordered..They arrived yesterday and formatted one, added the Tim6A update and all worked fine..Just didnt like that initial Micro card for some reason |
|
| Hi Genes: I've been wondering how your update problem was progressing. Glad to read that you solved it. |
|
| Funny thing though..before the update, I was able to hold the Shanghi icon and a trash can would appear, touch the trash can icon to get rid of the Shanghi deal..now that I have the update...the trashcan no longer appears when pressing down on the shanghai icon.....rebooted several times since then and no change |
