compatability view?

My gmail account says :It looks like you have enabled Internet Explorer Compatibility View. Gmail works best if you turn this off".

So I've checked if this is true (tools-comp view settings), but the compatability view is not enabled?

I've also noticed that the weathertracker that we have on our computer (downloaded fron weatherzone.com.au is not working anymore, it says it can't find my location so therefore I get no forecast?)

Are these two things linked? Is there anything else going on that I could look into?

I'm worried because the same things have happened at my work computer this last Friday, yet my colleagues still have their weathertracker working.

Any advice appreciated :-)

I find it odd both computers are affected by the same thing, from that description it would seem to point to some up-date issue. The Google issue appears to related to IE 8. I have no idea what's going on with the weather issue, to me they seem like separate issues.

These are the only instructions I can find others appear to be having the issue as well.

Go to the "Tools" menu of your IE browser and from the drop-down menu select "Compatibility View Settings." In there, you will see a check-box labeled "Include updated website lists from Microsoft." Uncheck it i.e. make sure there is no tick/mark in the box. The link below is where the information above is from.

As far as the weather thing all I could suggest is to reinstall it and go through the set up process again.

Thanks Zep for your help! I've unticked the box and my gmail opened fine.

As for the weather tracker; now my colleagues have the same problem so maybe it's an update issue, as you suggested. Uninstalling and re-installing didn't fix it, so I'll just leave it for now.

One thing I did notice when I uninstalled it is that it didn't remove all components, even thouh it says it will? There was still a folder in C:Program Files. How come that didn't get uninstalled?

Hi gang, I just stumbled across this thread -- no one had emailed me about the script problem. PLEASE, whenever you have an issue, contact us! I know that I always assume someone else will say something -- but, the more emails that we get, the more helpful it can be. I haven't gotten the issue this morning -- so, I'm assuming everyone else hasn't either? For those of you who had trouble last night -- were you using IE9 or FF11? I'm on win8.1 with IE11.. that's where it shows here. IE has had compatibility view for a few versions now. May be in different locations - with windows there's usually several ways to skin the cat. What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser? This is an attempt to limit the the issue to 1 browser. For delta search you will need to a bit more work to get rid of it entirely. To do that, download AdwCleaner Download from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ Using AdwCleaner is very simple. Simply download the program and run it. You will then be presented with a screen that contains a Scan and Clean button. The Scan button will cause AdwCleaner to search your computer for unwanted programs and then display all the files, folders, and registry entries found on your computer that are used by adware programs. When the scan has finished, look through the scan results and uncheck any entries that you do not wish to remove. When you are satisfied with the selection, simply click on the Clean button, which will cause AdwCleaner to reboot your computer and remove the files and registry entries associated with the various adware that you are removing. On reboot, AdwCleaner will display a log showing the files, folders, and registry entries that were removed. My suggestion is to try another browser it sounds like she has something that is conflicting with IE or she could try to disable the java script in IE. To download another browser is very easy for firefox just go to www.mozilla.com and select firefox for download, say yes when it ask if you want to import settings and faves and stuff from IE yes to all, do not set as default if it ask. That is it. To disable javascript in IE (depends on the version of IE) but this might do it. Enabling or Disabling JavaScript in Internet Explorer 7/8/9 for Windows XP/Vista/7 tell her to try the javascript thing first if that does not do it to go ahead and get firefox. Once she has it downloaded and installed just click on the firefox icon to use it.

Because it's a weak uninstall program like so many. You can always right click the folder and delete it, in some cases for stubborn folders like that it can be necessary to boot into safe mode and delete it.
