watching abc tv episodes

| I thought that I had asked this question before, but I can't find it. (I thought I used to find my former questions by doing a search using my user name??//) My Mother who is 81, is needing my help. She wants to watch the ABC TV episodes on her computer as her VCR messed up. She says that she has done the required installation but that when she starts clicks to watch the episode it goes thru the whole installation again. I have it installed on my machine, so I don't know what obstacles she is incurring. We have the same machines....HP Touchsmart with Vista Home Premium. How can I help her? |

| I'm not familiar with the download needed, but is it supposed to install completely automatically with one click, or is it possible she only downloaded the software, but didn't really install it? |

| I watch episodes of Modern Family, an ABC show, and didn't remember downloading any special software. I went directly to the ABC site and see that they do want the viewer to install software. However, if I go to hulu.com instead, and put "Modern Family" in the search box, I can watch the show without installing special software. You didn't mention which show(s) your mother wanted to watch so I wasn't able to confirm that this works for all ABC shows, but it's worth a try. - June |

Thanks. She is wanting to watch Desparate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
I have heard of hulu.com; I'll have her check it out. I'm pretty sure the one that I used originally to watch, which I thought was ABC.com I had to download something and let it install, cause I had some problems with it at first and then it finally worked but I can't remember what I did. When I right click on the screen where it is playing it shows me a box related to Adobe Flashplayer. I went to "tools", then "manage add ons" and it is there enabled. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. I told her to check that out. At one time I suggested to her the TV guide site, so maybe that is the one she is using. Just wondered if anyone had any of the similar problems. |

She is wanting to watch Desparate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
I was wondering if it might be Desperate Housewives she was wanting to see. That's the only thing I have watched on the computer when I missed it at its normal viewing time. I hope she gets it figured out. I remember the first time I wanted to watch it, I had to download and install something first. Sue...another Housewives fan |

| Yahoo! I just used the Hulu and watched the last episode of Desparate Housewives to make sure it would work for my Mom. Great site. I even caught a major word using the CC feature that I missed when I watched it the first time. Love it! I have an episode of House that (ballgames pre-empted and my DVR missed the last half) I need to look up. Thanks so much! |
