zone alarm

Could someone tell me if there is a free zone alarm firewall and if so could you give me a link to a safe download site??
Is there a better free firewall than zone alarm. New to all this so appreciate any help at all. |

| Here is the link to the free version from the Zone Alarm site. The key is that you want to click on the link for the basic Firewall off to the side, not the big red Get it Free link in the middle of the page. I've used Zonealarm for about 10 years on my personal PCs. It does a good job, but you need to know which programs to allow and which to disallow. |

also be very very careful as you go through the download process because now they try to get you to also install a toolbar which you do not want, you will have to uncheck the box where it mentions that.
this should be the direct link to the free version

thanks all for your replies. i know better than to not include system specs so my apologies to all.
I have win xp / service pak 3 / firfox / avg 9
just got wireless ( no router ) and wondering if i am safe from hackers. new to this so just wondering???? |

| what do you mean just got wireless no router? If wireless is not set up properly and securely you are open to some serious issues. Let us know what you mean and what you have please. |

| I was set up with wireless with my electric company.don't understand all this stuff at all but provider says i am safe. was just wondering if i needed any extra protection. |

| That may well be, but I would still use a software firewall. You cannot be too careful. |
