Mike, Thanks, this makes me wonder why I hear/read so much concern about the big differences between XP, Vista, W7 (which I consider to incremental changes) and W8. Seems that I can run Thunderbird and Firefox (like right now) and W8 will be behind the curtain just being a good operating system. Maybe the difference comes in how one activates Mozilla applications. Thanks, I'll continue to consider W8 laptops (but, still I would like to have W7). I am at a loss on what one should consider as at least today in the world of CPUs. Is the AMD A-Series Dual-Core A6-4400M 2.7 GHz reasonably current? I believe the i5 and i7 are the latest Intel and I think they both have more than two cores, does that matter, make a difference I'd ever notice.... considering my stated interest in email and browsing. The 2.7 GHz sounds good.

ravencajun, I have uninstalled FF and rebooted, two times. It still happens. I found this in my advanced system information, under view the error log. ( The IP address lease then my IP numbers follow for the network card with network address then more numbers has been denied by the DHCP server then my IP address.)The DHCP server sent a DHCPNACK message) Also another one that said- (Your computer has lost the lease to it's IP address then my IP numbers on the network card with network address then more numbers.) Hi DA, When I go to Tools>Add-ons I do not see Tools for Add-ons. So I went to the Adblock plus sign and there is nothing there that tells me anything about Manual or Automatic Updates. Another thing I just noticed is that I don't have the current update, do I have to go to the site and download it? Which site is the best? Oh yes I have the 0.9 version. I didn't know that because I didn't install Firefox the guys did when I had this computer built. Please send me the safest link to download the current version of Adblock Plus. Thank you.

third, for the legit programs you have, whether free or ones you've purchased, my advice to you is to accept updates anytime they're communicated and give it no further thought. I consider myself to be a PC user of intermediate knowledge. In in my experience, even with open source projects like Firefox, the true nature of updates is rarely fully disclosed and even it if were, you as an average user would be unable to understand the real story of what's going on and why. Trust the experts (the people who are managing the software you use) and take their advice. Accept all updates and move on.
