Microsoft Updates

I haven't checked on updates for a while, and now when I go there I get this message:

Install the ActiveX control required to view the website
The website will not display correctly on your computer without this control.

I don't remember seeing this message before. It appears to be covering the usual Checking your Computer for updates message.

HP Media Center XP SP2

TIA

Sue

are you going there on IE? do you have active x turned on?

RE: Microsoft Updates

RC, yes, using IE for updates. (FF is my default browser) I've never had Active X on as far as I remember. I'm thinking Active X has always been iffy, and to not use it.

I have No Script add on and use that when needed.

I would:

Install the ActiveX control required to view the website.

Zep, if I must, I must, but why after all these years, is Active X required? Is it because I recently updated IE to V8, and/or AVG to v9?

Sue, the curious

RE: Microsoft Updates

probably when you went to IE8 the Active X features that are normally active in the older versions of IE were all disabled. I agree with zep you can enable the active x for your windows update site.

Here is a link that might be useful: active x with windows updates
