printing envelopes

Hi all, just got a new printer/scanner yesterday--HP--and for the life of me, I cannot get it to print envelopes and if it does, it is not centered on the envelope where it is supposed to be. What in the world am I doing wrong? I've poked every button I can find and nothing seems to set it to where it is supposed to be.
Sometimes it sounds like it is printing but then the envelope comes our completely clear---then again the address may be way up where the return address should be. I've read everything I can think of but cannot get it right. The rest of the printing I've done comes out really nice--it's just the envelopes that are giving me the heebie jeebies. any help would be appreciated so much. BT

RE: printing envelopes

Are you sure you're putting the envelope in the right place on the feed tray? I have an older HP all-in-one, and it has a little insignia on the tray that shows that for that particular model, you have to load the envelope so that the flap is on top and to your left -- essentially, it prints the envelope in landscape mode. Your description of the printer printing but the paper coming out blank or with the printing in the wrong place just sounds like the envelopes are loaded in the wrong corner, or possibly crosswise instead of lengthwise.

I have the same problem with the envelope printing blank. Mine is not a new printer, tho. I've had it for a few years. It is a Lexmark. I have used it many times to print envelopes and it worked fine. Now it doesn't. It makes all the noises like it is printing, goes through all the motions, but spits out a blank envelope. Regular printing does fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, hoping that would cure it, but it didn't. So I'm hoping someone has an answer that helps me too.

RE: printing envelopes

It may look like it printing blank. Test with a full sheet
of paper. Your putting the envelopes in one side and it
printing in the middle. You've got to set it for printing an
envelope.
To set it for envelope printing use the place were you are
typing the address. I have Microsoft Works Word Processor.
What do you have? Once I get an envelope address the way I
want it, I name it 5 x 7
The address doesn't matter, it can be highlighted and deleted and type in a new address and click SAVE AS giving
it a different name. In other words I go to my Documents
and open the size envelope I want.
In my case I would go to TOOLS = Evelopes - single envelope
- OK = Pick the size of the envelope. New Document - OK
At the Left top - Page Setup - Envelope Feed - Select the
side Feed - OK

Because of the long setup is the reason I save a copy to
My Documents.

Cboy, That may be the answer. I also us MS Works. I have done it the same way time after time, then it started not working. I'll bet the setting got changed somehow. I will test it when I return and see if it works.
Thanks

RE: printing envelopes

Silver, yes, the envelopes are going in the way they are supposed to even though they are backwards from the way the old printer did. Seemed strange at first. There is something in the setting that I do not have absolutely correct because I had the same trouble with the old printer.
cboy, it is set for envelopes and as I said, once in a great while it comes out okay, but it will print out one envelope totally wrong, then another envelope with come out (with no instructions to do so, just all by itself!!) and be printed right. I know it is in the setting, but I will experiment and try to move the envelope around even though it is in the place the directions say. I am going to try your suggestion, though. Wish me luck.
If any of you have anymore ideas, I'm open for any and all things to try.

RE: printing envelopes

Are you using works or word to set it up. I print them all the time, no more labels for me. If it is an address I send to all the time I print enough for at least 6 months.
