Cell phone help?

Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction for help with my LG Optimus F3 cell phone (Virgin Mobile plan)

This morning the phone seems to be frozen. The only thing I get when I turn it on is a box with the statement:

"Unfortunately, LGATCMD Setvice has stopped." With an OK button.

There is no way to remove the box to get to Settings or any other phone function.

I have contacted LG and Virgin, waiting for a response.

I have also removed the battery hoping that reinserting might help, it didn't.

Any one have any knowledge on what I can do to get the phone to work? Thank you.

If you google seems you are not the only one with that problem and a factory reset apparently doesn't help. Here is a post that might help but the site is down right now for maintenance tonight. Mary

Thanks Mary. LG responded that it's a software problem and I need to send the phone in for repair.

It sounds like we have the same problem! I got a Nokia 6133 from tmobile in March, and everything has been fine with it, until this week when I went on vacation and decided I needed a car charger. So, I ordered one off the internet, brand new Nokia charger for the 6133. After four days on vacation and my phone was about to die, I plugged it into my new car charger and I got the message "charger not supported". So, I spent the last 3 days of my vacation with no phone. Now I am home and determined to get an answer to this. I AM the authorized user on my account, so I will try and get to the bottom of this. Forget the kiosk, those guys are idiots, and only make you feel like more of one. In the meantime, did you get an answer to the problem? Oh, by the way, I plugged the phone into my home charger when I got home today, and it worked fine. It's something about the car thing I believe. Let me know if you know something I don't know. Thanks!

We've had a couple of Nokia cell phones for several years through TracFone. We decided to go with the Motorola W376g phones because it is hearing air compatible, plus my wife wanted a new phone. Using the TracFone web site, transferring the minutes and telephone number from the first one went fairly smooth and it took just a few minutes before the new phone was working. Trying to do it with the second phone has been a problem and after 3 days is still not working. They first told me it would take 24 to 48 hours for the transfer to take place. and then they said it would take up to 10 days. I've tried calling them but with my hearing problem it's almost impossible to understand their overseas Service Representatives. So I've been dealing with them by e-mail. It cost $49.99 is supposed to have "double minutes for the life of the phone upon activation."

A lot of people check their voicemail from a landline. If you have a cell phone plan that does not allow a lot of minutes or are not doing the checking during the "free" nights and weekends using the landline is the best option. Using another phone to check VM can be done when your cell phone's battery has run out/too low and you need an important VM message stat. Hint: Never toss out the instruction manual that comes with a cell phone or any other appliance or electronics. You never know when you will need to refresh your memory of an item's usage. Sometimes something that seems 'simple' like changing the batteries on an item, can turn out to be more complicated than one had assumed. Having the instruction manual handy can save a lot of hair pulling. Hint #2: If you discover that someone has tossed the instruction manual out, or it has been stored in an inaccessible place, keep in mind that instruction manuals for many many products sold can often be found online on the manufacturers website.

Update. Virgin Mobile sent me instructions on how to reset my phone. The instructions they sent seemed to have fixed the problem! I am posting what worked for me in case someone else has the same issue. (Although my phone is not the LG Tribute, it worked for my LG Optimus.)

"
If you cannot access handset menus, a factory reset using the handset
keys may be required. Please follow the instructions provided below to
reset your LG Tribute:

1. Ensure the handset has at least a 50% charge. The handset must be
powered off. Remove and re-insert the battery.
2. Hold the volume down + power keys several seconds. When Factory Reset
Processing appears, stop holding down the keys. The Android system
recovery screen appears with a green Android icon.
3. Use the volume keys to scroll to and select Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
4. Press the power key to select OK.
5. A script displays asking to confirm wipe of all user data. Scroll
volume down key down to highlight Yes - Delete all user data. Press the
power key. To cancel the process and not wipe the user data, highlight
No, press the power key, select Reboot System Now and press the power
key. No changes will be made.
6. After the software wipe, the phone returns to the recovery menu. The
option reboot system now is highlighted. Press the Power key to reboot
the handset."

Glad it's sorted. Both LG phones I have had the instructions for reset came in the manual and I got paper manuals with mine. If you didn't get a paper manual you an get a PDF manual from LG on their site. Mary
