| Would appreciate input on Toshiba 10.1" NB205-N210 Mini Laptop offered at Walmart. It has XP on it, which I prefer, 6 cell battery. I have done some research, but my head is spinning from reading so much about these little devils....
My vet uses these minis and their guru suggested these because he said they were the most cost affective.
Would also like to know what RoHS14 compatible means....
Thanks a bunch,

| I have the Toshiba NB205 with the 280 processor and 6 cell battery and love it. I didn't buy it from Walmart so don't know if the one you linked is different in any way. The specs look the same. My only complaint is that the speaker is terrible, but I can live with that. If I'm going to listen to something lengthy, I use headphones anyway. I also use a mouse, so can't comment on the touchpad. |

| Thanks Susan...I don't think the speaker would bother me either, although, I would be listening to youtube cooking videos. I have the VLC media player and download the MP4 videos. |

I have the ACER aspire one netbook which I love. Most of them have the same specs, the Atom intel processor and a gig of memory and 160 gig hard drive. I see that Toshiba is much higher priced than some of the Acer and MSI netbooks I have been seeing. Really no reason not to save money there. Some will have the 3 cell battery some the 6 cell that is about the main difference. I have the 3 cell but I use it at home mostly so that is not a problem for me. the speakers are horrible on all of them but picking up a cheap pair of earbuds at biglots or somewhere takes care of that problem. I too prefer using a real mouse over the touch pads. I see they add a lot of stuff on that one, I would want to remove a lot of that right off especially that Norton, you do not want a huge resource hog on that little netbook, I have AVAST on mine and it works great. Here is the link to the MSI wind that is on sale MSI Wind U100-013US 10" Netbook there are great sales on now and many of the black friday sales have netbooks on them. |

| The Toshiba linked by the OP has the N280 processor. I don't really know the difference between that and the N270. If you want the 6-cell battery, note which direction it will stick out on the various netbooks. It goes straight out the back on the Toshiba. This will be important if you want to fit it into a case. The Caselogic LNEO-10 fits it perfectly. On the HP, the 6-cell battery sticks out the bottom giving you a slanted keyboard. That might be more comfortable for typing, but might be a problem in a case. When you go to look at netbooks at a store, the batteries have often been removed so you don't see that. I crossed the HP off my list for that reason. The first thing I did was get rid of Norton. Then I added Avast (which I had never used before), Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Everything is squeaky clean so far. |

| RC, Have you ever called MSI or Acer tech support just wondering what they are like do deal with when you have problems. What is Buy.com return policy if the notebook is defective. Meaning return time allowed and reshocking fees and so on. Walmart return policy is 14 days. If you buy online the count down starts at the time of purchase. That doesn't give you much time if something is wrong. |

no have had no cause to use tech support on either of them myself. I have bought a lot of stuff from buy.com and had very good results, I did not have to return anything but on one item which was backordered and was going to make me late submitting the rebate for it they sent me an email and told me they would cover the amount of the rebate if they caused me to miss out on it which I thought was pretty amazing. I did buy my netbook from walmart.com because I knew I could return it to any walmart store with out a problem. Read the fine print on all return policies. I know on newegg for computer purchases they will not refund they will only replace which is why I don't buy computers there but I do buy parts from them. |

| Thanks for input on buy.com I have used newegg in the past I would not buy a computer from them. My local Walmart is a hour travel I checked on the return policy for this store recently. Not a lot of in-stock netbooks and delivery time cuts it to close. |
