I offended some people. I am so sorry, honestly that was not my intention. owbist, I remember you are one of the people that has helped me before. I did not mean to say that I expected instant help. It's just that I guess I have had luck because In all my past request for help. I have always had quick replies, and since my computer is doing funny things I thought it could be possible that my post was not showing. Most of the time NOT....rarely it will. But when I used to use it before it gave up on me I would print shipping labels on PP..........Now since it let me on, I tried to buy the labels and ended up having to do them the old fashion way and will take to the PO tomorrow.......That is mainly my problem.......I will deal with whatever browser, even Chrome if only it prints the labels......... Update: more trouble shooting led me to check the DSL speed. The download was about 7 Mbps, and satisfactory but the upload was as low as 80 Kbps - discussing with the Teleco technical support (Century Link) the evening of Thursday last, led to the diagnosis the Telephone modem was malfunctioning, in fact it completely stopped working on the power-down/up test. The CL representative could not provide any access to a replacement modem, but they would ship me one for $15 three days (bet business days, so not until Monday or Tuesday). They could ship overnight for $25. I told them ship 3 day I'm checking with Comcast an may move my service there. I up an running on Comcast at a so-called 105 Mbps which checks out closer to 15 mbps, about the same up/down. Not sure what the 105 Mbps is about. The good news cable, Comcast/Xfinity, was able via over the counter purchase at Walmart of a Cable Modem to put me back in service over my existing TV cable access in a matter of minutes. Down side, we don't want to change our email address. I will check to see how low a price I can get from Century Link and retain my email/ISP account. So far the browser works great.

I use firefox (love it!) and double check on IE. I don't have netscape installed (I really hate it!!) so I can't tell you about netscape however I can say that spewey is right and that IE handles some html coding poorly. I have had problems with picture resizing (my fault). Firefox sizes larger photos to fit on the screen. IE doesn't do this. Sometimes I forget this and check my page and end up with this huge photo. So I have to go back to photoshop and resize it so it doesn't fall off the screen in IE. Other problems I have seen have to do with formatting. I will double check my code and it appears fine however IE doesn't seem to handle it like firefox. I guess I should just start developing using IE and that would save me a step! -renee

I used Firefox with my Macbook for years because I was not happy with Safari. Recently I decided to give Safari another chance, and I have to say that I it has greatly improved and seems to meet all my online needs. As far as finding things, I'm assuming you are referring to the search engine you are using (Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Bing, etc.) and not the browser (Safari, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.). If that is what you mean, you can easily change the default search engine that Safari uses when you type a topic into the address bar. To make this change, simply go to Preferences in Safari, which is found in the dropdown menu under Safari, as in the dropdown you use to quit the app. You have the choice of 4 or 5 search engines you can choose from. My thinking is that for most instances, Safari is going to be the best browser to use, simply because it was created explicitly for use on a Mac. But as some of the other responses indicate, I too keep a couple of other browsers in my dock should I run into any issues with Safari, which is my default browser. The default browser-the one that opens any random links you might click on when you are not online, and can also be easily changed in System Preferences. Sorry if this is way too basic for you...
