Could not find the macromedia flash: how to fix

If you start seeing this error, it's because Macromedia started naming one piece of their installation with the version number, but a lot of screen savers are looking for flash.ocx.

The solution is to go into %windir%\system32\Macromedia\Flash (or it may be %windir%\system32\Macromed\Flash). There will be a file with a name like flash9.ocx (or flash10, flash10a, flash10b etc, depending on your flash version).

Copy the file and paste it. It will get a name like Copy of flash9.ocx. Rename it flash.ocx and your screensaver will work until your next flash upgrade.
