Sharing Albums in Photobucket Question

I'm trying to figure out how to send just one album of photos to a friend without giving her access to my entire library of photos. I've been testing it by sending it to me--my two e-mail addresses--before sending it to the friend. Each time, when I open my e-mail, I can see all my albums. Is it because I am sending it to myself? But then how can I test that it is working correctly?

I've made sure that all my albums except the one I want to share are private. They all have the locked symbol next to them. I changed the private into public for the one I want to share. I open the album, click the "share" and "e-mail" areas, type in my e-mails accounts, and send. When I open the link in my e-mail the tab on the left shows all albums and I can click on them each to open the photos (even though they have the locked symbol). I purposely tested this with both my e-mail addresses and both allow me full access.

What am I doing wrong?

I don't know about Photobucket specifically, but in general with those sites, you get logged in via your email address.
So if you send some kind of "share" email invite to yourself, to your email, when you click on the link in your invite email, you will again login - because the site sees that you got there via your own email. And that email is on record at the site as "owner" with all the associated privileges.

Also, when you are testing this, did you log out of Photobucket after you sent a test "share" invite email to yourself ?
Because otherwise your cookies will tell the site that you re already logged in as "owner".

Try sending a "share" invite to an email address that Photobucket doesn't know about or have on record for you, then log out of Photobucket, then check again with the "share email" that you sent to yourself.

Thank you kbarb! Logging completely out of Photobucket before sharing the album was the key.

Thanks so much, Jeri! When I first tried to post, the photos were not visible, so I thought perhaps the album had to be public, but I'm glad it isn't so. Actually, it was viewing your breath-taking slide show that put the doubt in my mind. Those are seriously gorgeous flowers! What a terrible shame that the heat cooked your roses!! Karen, You always amaze me with your talent!! So Wish you could get back in the full spirit of things again. Such great talent and not being used... :( I wonder if anyone has an objection to me using any of these ideas in my Attic? I do not wish to use them without permission.... Sharing Photobucket album?

On the photobucket screen, look in the right upper corner area. CLick on "account options". Scroll down to Album Settings. Click on "edit my album settings". Where it says "My album is" select public. Click on save. Hope this helps, Stumpy

No they can't if you have it secured. What happens is when someone clicks on the photo, it opens a new window that is in photobucket, (so it's counted) but only the 1 photo can be viewed not all of them.

Why not save the photo to your desktop then just send in e-mail, attach jpg

I have the same problem with Photobucket. I'm so tired of dealing with them, they have no support. Whenever someone posts a photo, if I click on the photo (Garden Web), it brings me to MY Photobucket.

Never thought of logging out. Will try that also.
