Look for it in control panel uninstall, scroll list for anything odd, and uninstall. also if you use IE=internet explorer you can reset it, that should get rid of it also. And Malewarebytes Free version is terrific, try it.

Christopher if Malwarebytes does not remove the problem try ADWcleaner at the default settings. This is a very quick scan but you will need to reboot afterwards for it to remove things found.

With Malwarebytes if you do not already have it be sure to stay on the free links to download and during the install remove the check mark suggesting you try the for a fee product.

What program are you using when this occurs?
Is it the same advert all the time?
Are you using AdBlock Plus?

Plus any other pertinent details you happen to see when this event occurs.

windows 8, ie 11 this is anew computer and apparently this program came with it It is called ad choice and it is on every web site. It highlights certain words in blue and when you pass over them with the mouse it will direct you to an ad

Gardenweb tried the advertising when the cursor moved over certain words. Not sure if they do and AdBlock blocks then but I have not seen it for the longest time. Years ago this site was wicked for ads, they would slide out to the centre of your screen making reading impossible.

Either AdBlock or commonsense fixed that fortunately as I would have left altogether rather than suffer such aggravation.
