you may have too many programs running at the same time on your computer. You proply ran out of memory. Try using Control/alt/delete, and quite some of the applications by selecting it and then selecting end task. You will also notice there is another tab in that window that says processes. Click on it and see if there is a high number running on one of the programs. If there is and you do not need the program or action running end the task there to. This will free up memorhy so you can continue with yahoo. Lynn

When evaluating software or hardware, it makes sense to ignore the popular press, especially the tech blogs and to an extent, consumer opinion. Change is difficult for us humans and the early reviews of XP bear it out. Below is a snapshot of cnet's Windows XP review back in 2001. I got to this page using the web archive. Note that cnet bemoans the fact that a user can only load XP on one computer. Really cnet? And note user opinions: 48% disliked XP after its first several months. Microsoft was roundly criticized for not having an OS that would work across all platforms: computer, tablet and mobile phone. Now Win 8 is negatively reviewed for not having a start button. Anyone remember when the criticism was that Windows had a start button? I use Win7 home premium on this computer and Win7 Pro on my daytrading rig. The next computer I buy will have Windows 8. well because it takes time to go through and remove all that junk that no one wants anyway and yes often times stuff does get left behind. If they wanted to offer that junk they could include it on a disc so you can install it if you want it but pretty much all of it is just a trail version anyway so you end up having to either buy it or remove it. I use pc decrapifier on the computers I set up to get rid of that stuff. Yes you are right you can go through the time and effort to google each one and see what it is and if you might want it then take the time to fully remove it which means installing a good removal tool. And why? you never wanted it to begin with. The pc manufacturers are making money off us anyway with our purchase but they want to make even more by putting a ton of garbage on there too. That was one of the reasons I really like the new vizio computers they don't do that. Many people get a new pc and immediately wipe the entire hard drive and do a clean reinstall of just the Operating system to be fully rid of the extra junk.
