ipad mini

I just bought an ipad mini and I can't find a way to change the language in the clock, time and date area. I had this problem with a computer once and I found it difficult there also. Any suggestions.

From the main home screen, tap Settings.
Tap General.
Tap Language & Region.
Tap iPad Language.
Choose your desired language.

I have the overall language set to English, no problem with it there. This is a problem in the area of the clock, date and time. It is the calendar that has a different language in it. I will check setting for the calendar and see if the is something there.

I found the calendar and Gregorian is checked, but there is only 3 languages, no english. I will keep looking.

krikit- You need to set up a Google account to fully use the android tablet (e.g., Google apps require this), but you don't need to use it afterwards. I have an Android tablet and, once I set it up, I've never bothered with the Google account. I continue to use my Hotmail and Yahoo accounts, and a different Google email. (Now tying your email to Comcast will be a problem when/if you ever switch ISPs, which is why it is always best to have your email from a source independent of your ISP...but that's another issue.) All devices and all operating systems should ideally have some sort of antivirus, and I use the free Lookout app for that on my Android phone and tablet. I also have an iPad and I can guarantee that you will probably have a happier experience with an Apple product, like the iPad mini. If you choose Apple, you will have: a better screen, probably better battery life, higher quality components and good customer service. I won't give you an opinion about the Hisense product, since I'm not familiar with it. It does cost considerably less than the iPad mini, and that's a valid consideration. And it may satisfy all your needs. On budget tablets, they do have to economize on the components they use, and that may mean things like slightly slower performance or a shorter wireless range. If you can go into a store and play with the two tablets side-by-side, it might help you decide. One last thing: If you are tempted to get the iPad mini you may want to consider buying a refurbished one from the Apple store; they are currently $279. I decided to buy a refurbished iPad from Apple, and it comes with the same 1 year warranty as new, and with a new battery and new housing. Oh I see - you just want the regular one, not the cellular one. With the cellular one you actually can buy 30 days of service at a time through Apple store and have that type of connection. You don't need to find the wi-fi hot spots or tether to your phones data (you would have to have a smart phone with data for that to work anyway) - but they are so much more. iPads are REALLY nice. REALLY REALLY nice! LOL. But I have to admit - 99% of the time I do use my iTouch because it fits in my pocket. It is really amazing how easy it is to type a message on. Great for Facebook, email, etc. Works great at McDonalds and other free wi-fi hotspots. The camera on the newest generation of iTouch is actually pretty decent. Great for pictures on Facebook and super simple to take video. Even has a flash (LED) . It doubles as a flashlight. Very handy in the dark! :) I put the Kindle app on it and have a few books on it so I have something to read if I am stuck waiting somewhere. I went through this while selecting my own Apple tablet. I do not know much about other tablets, I heard some are very good and their prices are very competitive. Some have many features than what I need. I picked IPad to go with the iPhone and Mac I have. I also have an iPhone from work, it makes life easier because I can easily sych and transfer data among devices. I chose IPad Air due to its display size and quality. I want to have bigger viewing area for more complex diagrams, charts and photos. Also, it is easier on my eyes and for trips. My daughter loves her mini which has higher display resolution produces a little sharper images. For myself, a phone of 16GB is sufficient, but for a tablet, 16 GB is a little limited, because applications take memory space, so the actual data storage is much less than 16 GB. I knew I would add more applications when I am more comfortable with a tablet. I want plenty room to store data, photos, books, music, movies and charts. We could store things on Cloud, but the storage size allocated is limited, it charges extra for more room. I finally settled on an IPad Air with 64 GB for future growth, but for a regular user, 32 GB should be plenty. I am very happy with my iPad Air, I use it to read, play and work every day. No, I don't think we could make phone call with an IPad as using a regular cell phone. May be can call through Skype, but I have not tried it yet. The celluar feature allows data transfer everywhere, the wi-fi feature only allows receiving data at the location a wi-fi system is available. You really should try a smart phone. I love Iphone, its user interface is so sleek, intuitive and convenient. You can take a crash course at an Apple store or a cell service provider such as Verizon. We think smart phone is complicate only because we have been 'brain washed" by conventional user interface on a regular cell phone, you would appreciate it once you learned smart phone interface. I would, but I've just too much to do. I started a challenge a couple weeks ago where I'm going through room by room and getting rid of what we no longer need. This week is the pantry, though Monday I got pulled to the drink station cabinet because I found tea in the pantry and when I opened that cupboard, I realized it could use a little moving around of things. It's like dominoes. LOL. If I don't keep up with these things they get out of control, I live with three males, so I do these challenges on a somewhat regular basis. I am planning on turning Wednesdays into "Crafting/Sewing" so maybe next week.

For a setup problem with a new device, I think you'll always get a better answer by going directly to the supplier. I wouldn't predict a high likelihood of success from looking around on the internet or asking in a forum. Why do either when you don't have to?

Apple has great support. If you live near an Apple Store, go there, the folks are extremely helpful. If not, you can get the help you need from Apple's website.

Using a different device, like a PC, go to the Apple website and click around in Support until you're given the option for either a phone call (there can be a wait for that) or a Chat session. For this, I'd maybe opt to do it by Chat. You'll probably have your problem fixed in 5 minutes. If you have other questions you can ask them too.

I wouldn't say so, you seem to be a regular and that's the habit. You're like anyone else, new things are new and unfamiliar.

(I'm not too proud to admit that with my wife's ipad, I've used both Apple support and the local Apple store a few times myself to figure out how/where specific things are done. I do have THAT kind of experience to share.)

I called support today and it took around 20 minutes to get in. The tech who helped me had the same problem finding a way to change the language on the calendar so the date can be set. She did the routine that I had done and English was in the box but was whited out. She tried a lot of things then went to international and English was checked, but there was a list of countries. I tried United States and it did not work. I suggested we click on another language, go to the home page and see if that worked, Spanish was on it. Then we went back and set it to English and it worked.
