Add/Subtract programs

Does anyone have an idea how to clean this out--meaning I am sure there are some programs that I don't need, and can be taken off.

Ex: Yontoo 1.10.02 mb

Window Explorer 8--software update, no mb or date installed?

Soundblaster K-F1 844 mb

Something Special 177.00mb

etc

Any ideas what to delate or not would be appreciated.

Yontoo seems to have twice as many detractors as it has fans so for me it would vanish sudden like.

I would not attempt to remove and IE8 update even though I do not use IE. The tentacles probably run deep into Windows.

Soundblaster seems like you either have Creative speakers or have installed a Creative sound card but much better audio.

No idea what Something Special would refer to, a frequent refrain in advertising of course.

Don't clean up to much! When in doubt don't do anything. I have seen a lot of problems when cleaning up too much. Leave all those programs listed there as is. The only thing you need to do is run TFC, CCleaner, ATF. Then do a defrag. Then check out what's starting up with windows and get a hold of the unnecessary start ups. Startuplite is a good program to use for that from Malwarebytes. Once the computer is running good , flush out the System Restore points by turning system restore off and back on. I would leave them alone. silverlight is by microsoft it is similar to flash it helps some sites show their content properly. No you do not have to have it but some sites that require it will not work properly with out it. Since you already have it on there I would leave it but that one is up to you. D, Not to over promote or beat REVO to death I have a current example of its service. I just removed WinAmp Full with REVO in readiness to install a current version. WinAmp is a long time and reputable application so a user could assume it had a capable on-board uninstaller. As suggested above, I selected Advanced mode and then engaged REVO. After the on-board uninstaller finished REVO took over. It located 4300 orphaned registry entries, and 1400 orphaned files and folders. These are REVO's numbers not mine. xp pro add/remove list not displaying entire list of programs

not sure how much more descriptive I can be. the smyptoms are stated quite clearly above. the add/remove window opens up, the slider at the right is very small indicating a very long list, but beyond the first 4 or 5 programs in the list it's blank. you can move the slider, or click on the down arrow and the slider moves like there are programs in the list, but NOTHING is visible. very odd. I will follow the links provided above and see what I can see. next tuesday, I will be infront of the computer again, and I will post some screen shots. thanks, John
