Internet Explorer 9 password help

My computer is a HP Pavillion g7 Notebook PC, Windows 7 Home Premium, Internet Explorer 7. I have 2 of these computers, one for my husband and one for myself.

The problem is with my husbands computer. When he goes into the electric company to pay our bill, it won't accept the password. He called the company and was told to change the password. It still didn't work. But it works on my computer. On Ebay he can get in, but his name doesn't show in the sign in spot. He can browse there but it won't let him leave any feedback. Again, on my computer everything is fine. One more site he's having a problem with is the hotwheel site. It won' recognize him. But on my computer there's no problem. Sorry for this being long. Can someone help me fix this for him. Thank you.

Empty the cache including ALL cookies and try again.

Are the browser security and cookie handling settings the same in both systems?

On his, have you tried an alternate browser?

Your title of the thread says IE9 and the body says IE7. Typo I bet.

Thanks Damccoy. It is a typo. I have IE9. I'll have him empty the cache and try again. His browser and cookie settings are the same as mine.

Joe, I'm not saying this would or would not be useful, I just found it with a search... http://www.bbcode-to-html.com/ Personally though, just because I like to do things the difficult way I'd probably throw copies of all the text files containing the bbcode into a folder and attempt to develop a script to convert them all in one go. I'm not saying I could do it, but I'd likely try. For instance, this rough beginning using "sed" works on the bbcode you posted above. It's missing a bunch of tags, even the regular [URL] one, but maybe it wouldn't be that difficult to extend. marie- I have four browsers installed on my computer: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. None of them interfere with one another, even when several of them are simultaneously open. I don't know why you are having some of the problems you describe, but you shouldn't be worrying about having to choose between Firefox and Internet Explorer. They are each discrete programs, just like Word or Notepad are discrete programs. Something else is going on here, or you have accidentally made some unintended changes to Internet Explorer, but it should have nothing to do with having two browsers installed.

do you happen to still have the paper work that came with it like the directions and the instructions manual that will have all your default info in it and how to reset it. If not look on the bottom for the model and google that you should be able to go to the manufacturer site and find the manuals. Did you set up your router originally with it connected to a desktop computer, in other words which pc did you install the software on? The router is setup on the family PC not my Laptop. Unplugging the router (and modem if one) itself from power and powering down all the computers, then power up the modem if you have cable first then after a while power up the router and once it is fully up then power up the various computers, often makes a big difference. I think we have a modem and a router for Xbox and laptops. are you just using the Vista built in firewall? Yes.I'm using the windows firewall. what are you using is it cable or dsl or what for internet? My son says it's cable/DSL internet. have you done all your windows updates? Yes.Except for three optional ones. I'm confused about resetting the router. That would be on the main computer. Will this help my laptop internet connection?

Sorry about your passwords, I had no idea that you hadn't saved them somewhere safe. The missing items may have been your add ins, which are usually the source of IE shutting down. Internet Explorer should not have updated unless it has been attempting to update and could not because the browser was unhealthy. Have you seen any Windows or Internet Explorer updates fail just prior to the issues? What were the names of the add ins that you were using? It sounds as if the green circle may have been WOT (Web of Trust). You can download it from https://www.mywot.com/ . The tab settings are found by clicking the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. Click the General tab, and then, in the Tabs section, click Settings. Check the Enable Tabbed Browsing check box. Click OK twice. Did you mean that when you opened Internet Explorer, multiple tabs were opening by default? If that's what you meant, open each site that you want in their own tabs, then open Internet Options and on the General Tab under the Home Page section, click Use Current. Click Apply and OK.

Without stepping on anyone's toes, could I join the needing help with this issue? If this should be a separate thread, please tell me...

Approx 2 months, same problem with IE9. I know there had been an update a few days before I noticed the problem but thought I'd used the browser for same tasks for a few days after that.

For the last few (8 or more) weeks, I have to type my username into Ebay sign in when I didn't before, and I can't leave or view feedback there with IE9 any longer. Shop, buy, pay - all fine.

My bank, all else has been OK except GW....I can't log into GW either and Tamara hasn't been able to assist.
I'm having to change browsers and use Firefox for the forums, and to leave feedback on Ebay...just those two places. Workable but annoying. Windows 7.

I didn't intentionally change any settings or do anything where I could have unintentionally changed them that I'm aware of, and I do use CCleaner regularly, no big cookie stashes. I've moved Ebay cookies and GW cookies to the delete side of the CCleaner options, moved them back to the 'saves'...no difference.

Hi,
Lets try something, Run IE9 in the "No Add ons Mode" see what that does,

Simply type Internet Explorer in Start Search and you will find the one which can run without the add-ons.

OK, I tried IE9 with no add-ons just now, it didn't make a difference.
After arriving at my Ebay page (signing in), clicking on my own feedback total brings up
"Input Error
We did not successfully receive all the required information from the page. Please go back and ensure that all the fields are filled in."
Just as it does when I try to leave feedback for a seller.
I'm not filling, I can't get to the page to fill :)

On GW Forums, I'm told to log in, and I do, but only to find the message again that If I Am A Member, to Log In...

You can reset Windows Internet Explorer 9 settings to return them to the state they were in when Internet Explorer was first installed on your computer.

Another thing you may try is,

Clean out your temporary internet files and temp files.

Download TFC by OldTimer click Here to your desktop. Click the Save file tab, save it to the desktop. Then double click it to run it.

Double-clickTFC.exe to run it.

Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator

TFC will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin

* Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process.
* Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.
* Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished.

Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer. If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.

Morz8 - Thank you. I'm glad we're not the only ones having issues. Zeb516 - I'm going to try all this when I get home tonight to see if it helps. Thanks everyone for your help. You guys are better than me calling microsoft for help.
