Well, they are charging him a fine but it will be decreased if he gets the work done within a month. His attorney referred a nice guy to do the work so hopefully he can finish everything and get the city off of Bob's back. I want to scream everytime I see his house because all the houses around his are in worse shape than his is. There is always grafitti on the garages and garbage strewn all over the alley. But by God, Bob better get HIS house fixed! Ack! I hate the City of Milwaukee. Their priorities here are way out of wack. Building code violations are more important than murders, burglaries and vandalism. We'd love to get Bob's stuff into storage, in fact he has a storage locker he is renting for just that purpose. The problem is, no one to help move the stuff. I'm not worth much and Bob has moved some things despite his missing toes and the doctor's orders. Where is a supportive, helpful family when you need one? Hopefully, once his house is up to snuff with the city, we can work on getting his things out and get rid of the big white elephant (my pet name for it). Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. ok what exactly are you meaning by maintenance? It is highly recommended NOT to use any type of registry cleaner so you do not need that. ATF cleaner and CCleaner are both very good products to do general clean up (not use the advanced or registry part) If you tell us what you want done it would help with direction. A layered security protection is the best protection, as azinoh stated one program that tries to do it all can fail and then you have no protection. Many infections today are created to stop the top names in security once they infect the pc so if the infection stops the one item you have you are in bad shape. Having multiple layers with different programs helps cover those bases. Now only one AV per pc is advised of course. I personally would not have my windows pc online with out malwarebytes at the very least in addition to my AVAST and spywareblaster. System Mechanic 7 Professional the reader reviews have quite a few negatives, the most alarming are the ones stating it does not give you a choice when it wants to delete things from your pc, not good at all. Plus it sounds like it is a bear to fully remove from a system. Many complaints of having to format pc. Sorry no hyperlinks. Things are kind of busy right now. I don't know if you want to get into this sort of thing or not, but Windows 7 should have a Windows XP Compatibility Mode that makes it possible to run older 16-bit programs like MasterCook. It may take some work-arounds, but as a MasterCook person myself, the last thing I want to do is switch programs after all these years. Here's some info from Microsoft support: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx There's also a blog that discusses a work-around to use MasterCook in Windows 7: http://mastercookinwindows7.blogspot.com/ The one remaining issue is the web import feature may not work with Internet Explorer, but if you have FireFox there's an add-on that will fix this problem. The blog discusses the issue. This may be more than you want to fiddle with, but if you do things step-by-step, I think you'll be able to keep your old MasterCook. It's a little investment at the front end for a big payoff. At the very least it's worth making the attempt (It's time but not money.) before investing in a whole new software program. Carol

There is so much discussion out there about this issue. The Apple forums are full of threads. Some cite a Mac/Windows issue, but I see sideways photos on my Mac devices, so it's not necessarily that. There is an orientation flag embedded in photos, indicating right-side-up. Clearly it doesn't always work, e.g., here on GW. Maybe it's the board software? I have both an iPhone and iPad. I never take pics with my iPad, which isn't the current model. I have an iPhone 5S and take photos in both portrait and landscape modes all the time. Whether I'm sending one as an email attachment, directly to Facebook or to Flickr (where all my photos posted here reside), I never get orientation mishaps. I never post directly from my iPhone to GW. I always import into iPhoto, crop if necessary, save to my Desktop with a logical filename, and then upload to Flickr. If you take a photo in landscape orientation, even if your iPad thoughtfully rotates it for you in viewing mode, the image file may still think it belongs laying on its side. When you import into, say, iPhoto, you can rotate the file and it gets saved that way, esp. if you export it to your Desktop with a new filename. Yes, an extra step or two, but just part of a workflow that corrects the issue.
