Sorry if I shouldn't post a HDTV Q here, but...

I put the question below on the "Electronic" forum, and go nothing in the first 24 hours, so I ask your forgiveness for posting it here. If anyone can give a quick answer (just a "yes" or "no" will suffice) I'll not cause much distraction from the good work on computer issues.

I'd like to know if I can watch HDTV delivered by cable on a standard definition TV set. I recall when Color was introduced one could view the program in B&W on a set limited to B&W. Or maybe I am wrong there, that was a long time ago.

Here's part of what I posted on the Electronic forum:

"......Case in point, if I understand correctly my Comcast cable service delivers a number of programs in HDTV for the package I pay for. When I try to select any of the HDTV channels the cable box simply returns the TV to whatever I was watching in non-HDTV before selecting the HDTV channel."
