Is it a Publisher file (.pub) or a .pdf file? I'm away from my computer with Publisher 2010 on it but have never seen the option to lock (or unlock) a file.

I save all six pages as one file, so I don't upload them individually. It all goes together. I've always called the file "index.htm". I pasted the instructions below that I found. When I follow these directions, I get a box saying "cannot save 'index.htm'. The folder is marked as 'read only'." I checked the publisher file, and it is not marked "read only". The other day, when I first tried uploading after making the changes to the Publisher file, I didn't get that message, but I may have been doing something differently. I've found different instructions and tried all kinds of things. When I click on properties for the network ftp location, it says "This server does not support changing file permissions". When I right-click the files in the ftp location, and look at "properties", it says "does not support changing file permissions". The file in the ftp location that is called "index.htm" shows that it was last updated in June 2009, so I must have done something to a different ftp file the other day when some of the changes to the Publisher index.htm file uploaded. For aligning text the best thing is to put your text in tables. If you are not familar with tables, but have basic knowledge of html then they are easy to learn. Here is a link that explains tables and gives you copy/paste codes to use. Ed's site was created for ebay users, but the codes can be used on any web page. Often the lock is caused by an improper shutdown. Open it up, do a "Save As" and save it under a different name. You should then be able to open the newly saved file for editing.
